those mud guard things

Does anyone have any experience of -ahem- "those mudguard things" road racing make them as do a few others. Specifically it's a bracket with a teeny weeny mudguard that sits at the point where spray would fly up from the rear tyre -looks a bit like a chin strap... since chopping the tail of I may look the biz but myself and the monst are getting covered in filth. ta.
