Bex and I (and a couple of others) have decided to book 3 days at Cartagena with No Limits in January. http://www.nolimitstrackdays.com/acatalog/cartegenatrackdays.html
Usually £459 for track, bike transport and **** hotel it's discounted to £399 'til the end of the month. An extra night is £33 saving the mad rush back on Sunday night. So fly out Thursday and back Monday.
Just need to arrange cheap flights to Murcia or Alicante, book a hire car and get bikes to/from Swindon for transport. All that's missing then is food and petrol/tyres.

anyone else up for it?

It's a possibility for me.

My girlfriend will probably kill me if I tell her now though.

I've now been banned from any motorsport activity within 8 weeks of a holiday.
So for me, as you can imagine, that's almost never going to work... :)

slob
23-10-2012, 04:55 PM
Jonzi: she can come with you £132 for 4 nights/non-rider plus a flight
J.P: it isn't within 8 weeks, it IS a holiday

J.P

Try explaining that to Emma..... ;)

Just think how much more you'll deserve a holiday after 3 days sweating round a track.

Thuli seemed pleased, 4 nights in a four star hotel in a small Southern Spanish town, use of hire car all day for sightseeing while we're at the track, what's not to like?
Cartagena 15deg in Jan... London 4deg if you're lucky

:chuckle: ah well, next time.

You need to start booking your holidays 9 weeks apart so you have a sneaky week in between!

The track is at Aljorra, just be aware of the local night club, night club has a different meaning in Spain :mand:

I have been looking at the euro track days for 2013, and I will not be able to go until at least May which then will be either Aragon or Valencia

Ooh! Looks like i need to get selling to raise funds. Just bought another tackday support bus so that's more than wiped me out but desperate to be back out on track again after the weather ruined the last Cadwell attempt.

jonzi
19-11-2012, 01:24 PM
Has any one been in Jan? What's the weather usually like?

Any one know what hotels NL use?

slob
19-11-2012, 06:48 PM
Hotel is Best Western 4* bang in the middle of Cartagena, weather should be around 15c

johnsy
19-11-2012, 07:11 PM
And cheapest in Aljorra, 5 minutes from the track, weather anything up to 20's,
best night out at Castillo, opposite Carrefour.
They recently found an underground village, access via a Church, next to the Irish bar, only place to get a Guinness

jonzi

Signed up.

Have you guys booked flights yet?

slob
22-11-2012, 12:47 PM
yep, will pm you tonight, we're flying out thu and back mon (so have booked an extra night at the hotel sun)

jonzi

Okey doke.

I'll be taking the 600ss I have bought, no road gear on it. So if you want to share a van to take the bikes down then I am up for that.

I assume Bex is going to take her little green thing, that will probably fit in the glove box.

slob
22-11-2012, 01:10 PM
I think the little green thing lives just down the road anyway but van share sounds good.
I've booked a dull but cheap hire car too

bex
22-11-2012, 04:15 PM
I'm not sure if that’s a 125 or a leprechaun reference. Either way, the bigger little green thing lives in Frome so will just be bringing it up from there. I do however have to take some aviation fuel to St Albans, but I'll worry about that later...

I was going to take it as hand luggage but unfortunately that will be my helmet instead.

slob
22-11-2012, 04:51 PM
Do you have Jerry cans? I have access to a car and can we can swing by Elstree on the way out of NW London.

bex
22-11-2012, 05:11 PM
I did have.

Got some more on the way; Elstree fine about randomers rocking up and taking fuel? If so, that be larvly.

slob
22-11-2012, 06:30 PM
well, they were in 1985 when I last needed fuel for the TZ350...

As you know, my wife wouldn't let me attend, so it's great that you all had fun without me !

And it's great that you all lasted the few days without any injury's, though I hear Slob's bike is very sick...

slob
22-01-2013, 04:44 PM
Ha! very sick... understatement.
Definitely blown up the motor, good news for the other 113 riders out there is most of the oil stayed on the inside. Sadly a 30K mile old 1000ie is no match for a KTM SuperDuke.
Will start post mortem once I've cleared some garage space and bike has been returned from Spain via Swindon this weekend. Good excuse for a rebuild ;-D

Well it looks like you had a good time.
If you need a motor for the monster I have a very low mileage 1000ds multi going cheap so you can use the motor then sell off the rest to get some money back !

Diego yes met Dani, Chris introduced us before we went via Facebook... She was really cool. Her RSV was in the shop and she'd just bought a 675 track bike and brought it out.

bex

Dont worry theres no sound on the vid, turned it off...sounds great but the screaming gets on your nerves pretty quickly (the bikes that is, not mine, although I'm sure my Norn Irish cursing gets irritating too ).

Yep crucial blip/rev match on the downshift, sounds like its going to implode otherwise!

Did you catch yourself shouting at the schlowmos over the ring ding a ding?

I'd post the video of me but you would see lots of head shaking and bad body positioning!

I've gone and booked those track days in Feb that I mentioned. So can always put your bike in the glove box this weekend when we pick up mine and robs, if you do fancy coming!

bex
24-01-2013, 02:33 PM
Me too, but its good to see where its wrong to learn from!

Cheers I'll have a think, I think my bike might need a bit of attention before I take it out again though. And not so keen on a freezing Feb track day but will see, just picked up some bargain tyre warmers which would be rather handy....

Bring a spare keyring just in case! ;-)

24-01-2013, 06:08 PM
A BSB spec'd version is about 48bhp, 135mph. Mines probably 40-45bhp at a guess, I'm led to believe its fairly trick, so maybe closer to 45 but who knows. Without a speedo its hard to know the top speed I've had out of her; I know I had about 125mph for sure, I reckon I've had 130 since, all speculative however.

I may also just be mad; speed is slightly deceptive when your arms feel like they're being ripped from their sockets while you hold on for dear life in the fetal position...
