Hi,
At long last I've decided to do the tail chop and get rid of the duck bill on my S2R.
First question before I get the hacksaw out;
Does chopping the tail off allow the rain to paint a dirty great big stripe up your back like it does on a pushbike?????
If it does, is there an answer??

This can be minimised with careful positioning of the numberplate.. angle of dangle is important

Don't like chopped tails on Monsters - just looks wrong (and can look terrible depending upon what cans you have ... the wheelbarrow) and now with so many having been done it's almost less common to leave the tail in place. I've got the same tray as in Yorkie's link ... looks great and works great - no spray up the back and it's in lovely carbon too.

I like Yorkies post, bit salty tho at 130 quid versus about 30 for a bent bit of metal and a hacksaw blade..

Diavel mudguard would work, but I think it would look worse than keeping the tea tray.

well it was a toss up against that or a picture of a bloke with a guitar and a hat

on a serious note some of the MOB guys have a coolish perspex plate thing that hangs below the number plate - bit like a mud flap on a car

This is what I did coming back from MOB. The pillion moans though. Which causes ear ache.

30 quid! My tail chop costs £1.99 for a sheet of 2mm aluminium and a downloaded template of a bracket. plus another £15 for a can of primer and matt black spray paint.
For me, my S2R looks 100 times better. Yes, the carbon termis could be cut down by 50mm but I;ll save that for another cold and wet day.
You might get a wet back but, here's the thing, if it's raining you get wet all over!;-)

I like my tail chop too, admittedly it is a 1993 M900 (ten years with me now), and not a wheel barrow!:chuckle:
Cost me zip as I had the alloy in the garage and the paint too!
The LED tail light did cost tho'

And as for getting wet, I rode it home (the long way) the day I bought it in a thunder storm and continue to ride in them - everything is nice and loud then!
