Hi,

Does anyone know if the carbs off a 2007 M750 would work OK on a 1993 M900?
Seem to remember a carb change in later versions.

Regards,

Mark

Not sure on the physical differences, but the jets would need to be changed at least.

Update to posting.

I meant 2001 model not 2007 which I think is injected.

AFAIK they use the same 38mm CV Mikuni's across the 2V monster range.. 600 to 900cc

But it would need re-jetting to suit

The 2001 model should be injected... they went from carbs to injection around year 2000. The trike doner was on a Y plate (2001) and is an early injected 900ie

nope, only the 900 went injection in 2001.
a friend of mine bought a 2001, 750, and it has carbs.
i believe the 600 also had to wait 2002 to see injection, and became the 620

It really depends when a monster was first registered Stef. Some hang around in showrooms for years before they get plated up. My two 900ie's are the exact same model year on near identical VIN's, but one is a 2001 on a Y plate and the other a 2002 on a 51 plate. That's why a dealer should always check VIN rather than going on reg plate for supplying the correct parts.

You could be right on the M750ie though... I think they did start making them a bit later than the 900ie

Either way it's dead easy to tell - just look at the engine to see if it has carbs or not ;)

I fitted M900 carbs straight on to my M600(2001) a few weeks ago and it runs 100% perfect without changing the jets. Just fit them and see how it runs,

Its hard to explain but when i compared the M900 carb needle to the M600's, even tho it has a larger main jet(#140 compared to the M600's #132.5) the needle has much less taper(so at the pointed end it was thicker than the M600's) so the area/gap between the main jet and the needle for fuel to flow(be sucked up) past at WOT would be very simillar.

Just fit them and see how it runs, chances are it will run fine.

Are you getting mixed up between main jet and needle jet, the needle doesn,t run in the main jet.

Not directly.. but the main jet does feed and meter fuel flow to the needle jet

So in that respect they are connected to each other

Probably :spin: Think i've OD'd one too many times on carbs these past couple of months! All i know is that the M900 carbs run great on my M600 and it still returns an average 64mpg same as the originals.

If it,s working nicely then why not, at 64 MPG something is right, I have never had a monster that would do more than 50 MPG, and I've,e had 5 monsters and 2 SS.
