Hi all, I heard a little whisper the other that you can fit a set of 750 barrels and pistons to a 600 as they have the same bottom end, is this true or is someone pulling my plonker? If it is possible, do you have to change/upgrade anything else? Any advice/info would be appreciated. Muchos gracias

I believe that they would fit as many Ducatis share crankcase designs (my 916 and M900 have, basically the same bottom end) although I think the stroke is different so it would end up at a different cc? (somewhere between 600 & 750).

That said it may not be a straight bolt-on due to con-rod length, piston height etc? but I'm sure someone here will know more than me.

Blah blah

Surely a 680 bore kit would be the way to go if you can find one

The 620 has the same stroke as the 750 (61.5mm) but the 600 is slightly smaller. I have no idea if 750 barrels would actually fit...

You would need to change the crankshaft and heads as well, you,ll end up with less power than you have now if you don't, if it runs at all!

Power upgrades on the smaller carby monsters are inexpensive and very simple.
Just do the following:

1. Sell your monster.
2. Buy a bigger monster.

Sorted!!

Seriously, tuning a 600 or a 750 really isn't worth it, open airbox, dyno jet kit and cans is as far as its worth going.

Well said Zimbo

I'd have thought that someone would produce a bore kit for the 600's, although the one I'm fitting to my 900 only takes it out to 944cc so doing this on a 600 might only give you a small increase in displacement.

Why not drop in a 900 lump?

They do make a 680cc big bore kit for the monster, but it's very expensive and gives little in the way of extra bhp. As Zimbo has already said the easiest/cheapest way to more power is to sell the bike and upgrade.

A good 900 lump will cost £600-800, and you'll need other parts to complete the swap. It really isn't worth investing heavily on a 600 monster that's worth less than 2 grand. You may also have issues with insurance and re-selling the bike later on.

True sell as 600 and buy a 900 makes sense.
