Can't open seat lock....

Hi there, was hoping some one here would offer some advise

I have left my bike for a few days, and the battery is dead, so to stop it happening again I have got a new battery, and a optimax toper upper.

The problem is, I can't get the seat off, to enable access to the tank / battery. The key only goes in half way. Is this normal?


If it is then I'll assum the wire has gone a bit rusty and is sticking, but if the key normally goes in all the way.... I don't know where to start.

Key only goes in part way on the seat lock of my bike too and the lock works OK - I guess this is normal. Have you tried (gently) pulling up the seat at the back whilst turning the key?

try a squirt of the old WD40 in there to clean it out...worked for me..

I have just got back in (lovely and warm out there!)

I have found out it was my own fault! I added a givi rack a few weeks ago (don't believe them when they say you can't get one for a '97 750 monster!)

When I was doing the tea tray bolts back up, I done them too tight, so when I undone the bolts a bit it popped off :)

Must have been pinching the cable?
