Just been looking at Thirdway Post of an ST2 (http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/showthread.php?t=44731) and I was wondering if anyone has fitted ST2 Rearset to a monster, if its possible? As I think the look really neat.

I guess no ones fitted one........Mainly looking at how the rear break is fitted

The rear brake is held on a bracket that bolts directly to the engine case, its a common Ducati set up used on a few different models and I'm planning to use this set up on my SC to replace the arrangement that it came with which is a heavy frame incorporating the pegs, pillion and exhaust mount and brake and gear change set up.I'll use SSie footpegs to replace the stock ones, they bolt straight on.

I guess it will depend if you have the relevant attachment points on your frame and engine for this to work.
Ducati uses a fair amount of generic parts over its models and that means it can be quite straightforward to source parts, perhaps just measure the mounting points and ask if something will fit.

Also you will need some where else to mount your exhausts to ;)

I think it should fit. Ducati generally use the same engine casing points. I can see this being a popular subject and a few doing this if it works. Easily make an exhaust fix point out of some thicker alloy or carbon fibre sheet. Or even a rod down from frame. keep us updated with the subject matter if you decide to do it.

I almost did this mod when I built the trike. Didn't think I could get stock hangers to fit with trike subframe and modifed swingarm, but it worked out ok saving a lot of hassle. The ST2 pegs look more rearset than the monster, so the riding position would have been less comfortable.

'The ST2 pegs look more rearset than the monster' I think they are too, so it should work better with clipons......?

I have no issues exhausts mounts on my bike due to custom cans ;)

But I will someone else try this mod (There is a pair of ST2 pegs on ebay)

I've already got non-standard rearset on the bike, there just a little small/high (I guess 6" is taller than the average Italiano. So will most probs just make a little bracket to lower the position of them.

Well I hope someone tries it, as it look like it could be a cheap way of getting rearsets on your bike

Indeed, the same setup is used on most (if not all) superbike models and would fit fine to a monster as the mounting holes are in the same place, you only need the mounting bracket like this; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ducati-Rear-brake-master-cylinder-mounting-bracket-749-999-switch-mount-/400302829018?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item5d33e86dda

I was thinking of trying exactly the same thing, but then I came across some alternative rearsets.
I must admit that I had assumed that there was some problem with doing it, as otherwise I would have heard of others doing it before. (many people run hi-level cans so the loss of the mounting points for the std cans wouldn't matter).
Maybe not though....?
I guess you'd have to put up with an inverted, race-style shift pattern, or else modify the bracket to include the gear lever pivot somehow.....which was another thing that put me off.

I'm fairly certain the ST2 left peg has a bracket/hole for the gear lever to bolt to, so you'd only need to sort the correct tie-rod length to use a conventional shift.

Assuming, of course that the bolt centres for the peg mounting are the same as a Monster?

Oh....now I'm really tempted to give it a go, or at least have a closer look to see how it might all work out.
My only other issue would be the lack of pillion pegs for the odd two-up occaision (my modded rizomas have removeable pillion peg brackets).
I really am (even more) surprised that this is not a well documented mod though.....there must surely be some sort of catch, or is it just that these days people prefer to buy their mods off the shelf rather than knock up something custom in the shed ? Surely not. The shed approach has much more soul.
I'm tempted to have a go now, just for the hell of it.
