Guys,
I'm not a hard rider and need to replace the tyres on my 98 M750 as they are originals from new. Anyway the three i'm thinking of are
Michelin Pilot Road £143 pair
Continental Motion £150 pair
Pirrelli Diablo Strada £140 pair
Due to being away form biking until this year for a while whats your recommendations? The bike is used to commute and in all weathers with a nice day blast thrown in now and again.

Try the Maxxis Supermaxx 6029 or MA3DS, just bought a pair of the MA3DS for my M900 on a recommendation from a mate who fitted them to his S4R and he rates them.

I'm assuming the prices quoted above are just for loose tyres?
Watling Tyres have a special offer on Maxxis tour and Maxxis Sport Diamond for £150 a pair fitted

They're probably pricier than you were planning, but considering your all-weather requirements in particular, pilot road threes have to be worth considering. They supposed to be excellent in the wet, and warm up quickly, due in part to the duplex (?) tread pattern.
I've had PR2s on my 750 for the last 7000miles (and counting) and I've been pleased with those. They will be replaced with PR3s when they eventually wear out.
The dual compound seems to help them to avoid squaring off too quickly as well, though I do avoid motorways, which obviously helps.

I really like the PR3's I fitted on the Buell
Sadly they are well outside OP's budget at £270 fitted for the pair

I'd go for the road pilots, had them on my Multi and they were excellent for grip, wet or dry, and for rate of wear.
The other option is to get hold of a pair of exDesmodue Dunlop Qualifiers for £50 odd a pair?

Having done a bit more research I think I may go with Michelin Pilot roads. I may even spend the extra and get PR2's at £199 loose. Thanks for all the help guys. I'll let you know how they are once I get them and fitted.

Maxxis, good price and superb performance.
Up to a good working temperature from -5 and lower way faster than the pirellis they replaced. The sports versions profile sharenped up the steering, the touring are lazier but still give a quick clean turn in.. Straight line stability is good, apparantly they are good at 190 plus..
my personal feeling and being objective the maxxis sports were better than the current pilolts I'm running.
Mileage hasn't really been significantly different either

I've turned over a new leaf with the aid of electro shock therapy and prozac
Make the most of it... the tablets run out on Sunday :on:

Well about 50 wet miles done so far and they seem pretty damn good. Would definately recommend them. Not sure about the orange Maxxis logos on them though lol
