For those stopping off in Gallarate on the way down to WDW, I thought it would be nice (it being the Jubilee and all) if we could all take some real English ale with us on our visit to the 100HP club, for those riding a bottle or two would be sufficient, as I’m in the van, I’m planning a six pack variety of the strongest ales
That ought to leave a lasting impression on the Italians.

I am also bringing a Union Flag.

British not English but we appear to be engaging in another arms race

Thank you for that, perhaps if you can get it to James as he is dropping off some baggage to be taken in the van.

I'd rather we introduced the Italians to the best and not merely the strongest English beer - bottles rather than cans, if possible.

How about some Timothy Taylor Landlord or Adnams Broadside?

Great, I think it comes down to what you think would most please the recipient, could you manage a bottle of each?

To be honest Capo, I'm going to struggle to take my own kit on the back of the 696, let alone find room for a bottle or two of beer. But I'm happy to chip in to a "buy the Italians a decent British beer" fund if one of the van driving contingent can find room for it in their vehicle.

I'll get some good old proper scrumpy at about 8-10% . That will sort them out!

Just got back from the boozer, but did I read that right? James is dropping off his bondage! :D

Crackin' idea Capo. Will have to look at the gear that's going, as MrsC's got a point. I'd prefer to buy a 6-pack and stash it in a van if that's a possibility, rather than try to squeeze a few bottles into precious nooks & crannies. Not able to say that I've mastered the art of travelling light yet, and as my last attempt of transporting a bottle on the bike didn't go too well... will have to weigh up options.

Besides after enjoying some great European roads, it might just be too tempting to endulge... :booze:

But the hairpins & passes will be more enjoyable with less ballast... :p

With a few vans going it should not be a problem for them to transport contributions to the "buy the Italians a decent British beer" If you get them to me I'll take them.

Doesn't globalisation mean you can walk into most off licenses or supermarkets in Milan and pick up a case of Marston's Pedigree?

Maybe but I bet you won't find any of Rallys scrumpy east of Worcester
