After a bit of faffing on my part and a test ride last weekend I decided to go an buy The Red Devil's 1100 EVO that he's had since August 2011.
It's not as powerful as my S4R, but it doesn't mean I won't ride it in the same way. :)
It's lighter and less aggressive and spotless after the careful attention that Red Devil gave it.

I picked it up yesterday lunchtime and than spent the afternoon adding the abomination that is 'JP's electrical wiring' for Sat Nav, Heated Kit and Intercom system. It took me hours because I hadn't realized quite how difficult it was to get to the battery !!!!

Anyway, the Man shed is looking very tight at the moment, but it's certainly looking like a Ducati paddock. ;)

How cool, a good buy that and now you have your own Ducati padock, you lucky lucky so and so.

Perhaps you can get a couple more and open the man shed as some sort of museum.

Already got a Venture rack on order as I've found the one of the S4R indispenable.
Also ordered some new end cans from GPR which I think look really nice for a little after market tinkering, plus some new Chinese levers which give me little more adjustment.

I quite like the standard mirrors so they'll probably stay, though I think as Singletrack said, they do seem to be the perfect hight for car door mirrors as my ride home yesterday would confirm.

Has anyone fitted a 14 tooth from sprocket to the M1100 or the EVO ?

That's not a bad idea Scott. I did see some old Ducati test rider is selling his collection of 1,000 Ducati's in Monaco in the Spring time. Maybe I should pop along down there :)

Unfortunately the older S4R will have to go to a new home so someone else can enjoy it as much as I have.

Nice one.
I was going to say that I imagined that the stock cans wouldn't last too long, but I see that I am already too late.

The stock cans actually sound very nice and bubble and pop but they're just a bit 'fat' for my liking, because of the CAT inside them, so this will improve it a bit I hope.

Congrats J.P!
I think Singletrack has a 14T front sprocket fitted, and I intend on fitting one soon (already bought one).
It is a bit of a pain to get at the battery if you don't know what needs to come off, but once you know how it's easy.

Well JP a good option really. I doubt you'll feel too much difference between the S4R and an 1100 EVO in terms of power tbh. Its at the top end where its possibly the most noticeable really, the 1100's have bundles of power and torque between revs 4-6k.

As its not the SBK engine, it'll be more fun to use on a regular basis. Anyway enjoy it, You'll have more fun than you realised. :chuckle:  :mand:

Well Bex, with three bikes in the Man shed and my fat a*se, there's no room for me to parade around in my suit. Though I can turn the radio on to Arrow 'The home to rock musc' and just look longingly at my tripletts....

Well done J P. I bet you bounce it off the rev counter a few times before you get used to it. I did when I first got mine after riding the RS.

Yep, that's why it's there :) And it's nice to see the red lights come on too, makes me feel like a real racer.

Did you put a 14 tooth sprocket on ?

Did you put a 14 tooth sprocket on ?

For most of the time yes, but I put the 15 back on for Belgium and longer runs. It makes a 5 MPG difference on a long run, but gives more oomph on short blasts. Forget 1st gear though for most rides, your over it by 20 mph! 2nd becomes a natural gear for 30 mph zones though.

Blimey, that's quite a change considering he got the Monster when he was fed up of waiting for a Diavel!

I was under the impression that the S4R's lacked a bit of top end ?

155 mph has always been more than I'd ever need on a UK racetrack. :)

Well the GPR Exhausts are arriving next week after a bit of a delivery delay because someone balls'ed up the order & shipping. Can't wait to get those babies plugged in and remove the baffles !

Shouldn't be a problem for Mr Photis

The Evo has a very small seat and he's got a lot to hang off with :mand:

On the new Monsters, the seat cowl screws into the side of the seat with some nice bolts, but what's the answer if you don't want the cowl on there ? The bolts don't screw all the way in and I don't like the look of open screw holes in the side of the seat......

When I bought mine the bike came with some nice black spacers that eliminated the gap between the screw and the seat... Perhaps you can get some spares from Ducati...

That would do it, but you won't be able to use the bolts...
