Could be a good weekend out, as Sammy Miller's, 'The Big Italian Day' at the Museum in Hampshire (BH25 5SZ) is on Sunday 22nd. :spin:

Guess we just need to agree a venue then. Good chips, real coffee & hopefully plenty of parking... awesome & just from a simple suggestion.

Due to differing geopgraphical origins, there may need to be a few local meeting points on planned routes to converge on a central venue for a group ride-in.

Depending on your planned route I might ride up to meet you then ride back again. Some fab roads, eg B1225. I'll watch for you plans.

Dave - we're owed good weather for Em's day this year, especially after the washout in 2011! Looking forwards to meeting up with you again.

I may show my face for this one, tho longest ride so far for me has only been 124 miles in one hit, so I need to get some mega riding practice in.
It's possible I may tag on the end of a group of Buells who come up from the South West, might have to bribe them (slow them down!) with cake!

Hi Chris,

Last years hideous weather was the reason I wimped out in the end. I wouldn't have wanted to ride 10 miles in those conditions, let alone the 300 mile round trip it would have taken me from Dartford. I really wanted to make it in 2012 but hadn't realised it clashed with the Ducati bash at Sammy Miller's :banghead:

Now torn between going to Hampshire with UKMOC or Linconshire with UKBEG. Have a good excuse to attend either event now, but was looking forward to finally meeting up with guys from UKBEG in July. Damn and blast!

There seems to be some confusion about conflict of dates:

Buell & Italian Motorcycle Festival on Saturday 21st July.

According to: http://www.sammymiller.co.uk/newsandevents.asp

'Ladys Ride In' is on Saturday 21st July.
&
'The Big Italian Day' is on Sunday 22nd July.

With some planning & a couple decent road trips, both events could be achieved, although there would need to be choice on Sat. Hope you'll be able to make both GT - though it depends on your reason for wanting to go to the museum... ;)

23-01-2012, 10:40 AM
I don't dispute attending both events is possible, but I wouldn't fancy the idea of back to back runs in the same weekend. Sammy Millers is a 260 mile round trip on trike for me, and the Buell event would be another 300+ mile trip on the Sunday. I'm potentially looking at riding up to Lincolnshire on the Saturday, and stopping in a local B&B before returning home Sunday. That would kick the Sammy Miller event into touch for me personally. The Buell with it's S1 seat isn't a very comfortable ride, and the prospect of spending 300 miles on it that Sunday makes my arse break out in a cold sweat.

I was hoping to go last year, but those I was going to meet cried off coz of weather. :nash:

having looked at google maps, it looks like there's a 24hr petrol station and cafe at the sutterton roundabout, where the A16 and A17 cross, a few miles south of Boston.
I'm assuming you'll be passing that way, and it would be only a short detour from my route, so I'm wondering if that would be a suitable meet point, away from the confusion of Boston centre....?
If so, just let me know a time and I'll see you there.

Hi Ian,

Im still planning to go but will be on the trike. The Buell is still sidelined with a snapped engine mount bolt in the front cylinder head. Will probably ride there and back on the day but if that plan changes I'll let you know. Nonnie also offered an overnight there if needed.

Confirmed 40min from my place to the petrol station (BP with a Little Chef)

Good nosh available at the venue

What they do ask is that you have the £7 ready and that groups pool the fee to one person, then Mr & Mrs Jessop don't have to bugger with change

The route from the petrol station to East Kirkby, lots of long straight Fen back roads

A big thank you to everyone from this forum who attended our annual Buell & Italian Motorcycle Festival on Saturday, at East Kirkby. The event was a great success, helped in no small part by the beautiful weather.

We raised £400 for Emma's Charity, the Papworth Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Unit, and although we didn't get an exact count on the number of bikes the total easily exceeded 200. The number of Buells was somewhere between 40 and 45, and Italian bikes probably numbered around 120. Invited as special guests, there were also 17 Vincents from the VOC.
