OK here goes. I'm dipping a toe in the water about my M750. R reg, 11k miles, totally standard apart from tail chop and rather lovely. Stock everything really apart from new hoses on front brake (so it stops now). I've had it about 18 months and put 3k miles on it - before me it was pretty much an ornament I think to be honest... Belts etc done by Rosso (of)corse

It's only done dry miles and lives in the garage - the engine cases are pretty immaculate (make my M900 look like it's made of cheese).

So the things is this - it's just not getting the use it needs - or deserves. I could keep it (thinking that's probably the best way to go) or I could sell it to someone who will ride it regularly and enjoy it more than I have the time to - so if you're interested drop me a PM, sensible ones only though - even though I know that by saying that I'm asking for it.....

Cheers!

OK so I took it out this morning and loved it - but then again if anyone is drawn toward a gorgeous M750 which is in top condition then let me know... If all else fails it can simply be an object of desire for me to look at!

Its a lovely bike good luck either way .... I wish I could have 3 ....well theres 3 I would like (2 is stupid enough for me and my life) but think I would have to have a big front room to have a special one I could have as an ornament indoors.
Its a corking example.

They don't make em like they used to do they, beautiful bike.

If ever I could afford two of them, I would love a 750 in this colour.

Seems Smiffyraf1 has for himself - or is going to get himself - a new monster.

Welcome to the fold James.

However, saying that to Cougarfrog this time last week seemed to have a kiss of death effect - but here's hoping it's a win win for all !

Now GT, want to build a monkey trike?:dizzy:

Already gone all being well JP.....Tell me (as I hijack my own thread) why you didn't get along with a triple? I've got a speed and I LOVE it!!!!!:chuckle:

Sorry to hijack your hijack benson, but if my Monster didn't come with ABS, I'd have a Speed Triple sitting in my garage instead...it was a cracking bike!

Maybe it was just the Sprint... As you know I used it for lots of touring which it was brilliant at, smooth and easy, but low down you just didn't have the grunt. If I wanted a proper fast overtake or some attack riding in the Alps I'd be banging it down two gears every time to get it in the 'zone. It actually because quite tiring on my right wrist having to wind it round so far to get going fast, or feel like it.

And the reason for the 1000 views........
A 750 monster is the best bike ever built.
Hope you won't miss it too much.

benson

And there was me thinking it was my sparkling personality...

Interesting about the sprint JP - I imagine for touring its a total peach in terms of long time comfort but never having ridden one I have no idea about the more physical side on your right wrist! :flamed:...

But as for ABS - I'm too old....:eye popping: I had a BMW with that - it kicked in twice in three years so I'm one of those riders who doesn't know what she's missing - the speedy triple is a joy to ride though, especially when the roads are a little drier the n they have been today!

As for the M750 - yes a lovely bike but if James gives it a loving home then I'm happy.

Happy weekends all!

Benson

One of my friends used to have a Sprint ST 1050. I toured the French Alps with him riding it. I was on my Kawasaki ZRX1200 and another friend was on a ZZR1100. The Sprint was comfy enough for touring and could keep up with the ZZR most of the time. It was also a bit more nimble than the ZZR. However as a touring bike the Triumph panniers were appalling. On more than one occasion they fell open and we had to stop and recover his pants from the middle of the road. Also it's almost impossible to get on and off the bike without catching your foot on them. They are also wider than the rest of the bike, which resulted in me ending up on the ground when my friend pulled up beside me and knocked my bike with his panniers. They were so bad that at one point my friend gave them a good kicking (much like John Hopkins gave his Suzuki MotoGP bike). We also had a good laugh at the amount of oil the Sprint drank. About 1 litre every 1500 miles. It was an ok bike, but I wouldn't say that the build quality was anything to write home about.

I empathise. Pants in the middle of the road is never a good thing...:spin:

Well done Benson and Smiffy, god i love a happy ending, sniff!

I also am sorry for the Hi-jack, although the Monnie is sold, so it don't matter tooo much.
On the subject of Triumph triples, the Thruxton is going to be replaced with a Street triple R.

When my Bonnie was in for it's service I had the thruxton as a loan bike. Loved it but don't think my wrists and back would cope long term.....:look:
Meanwhile the speed triple........:)

I find the Thruxton about 25% heavier than it should be, i think the Bonnies have lower suspension, certainly the seat hight is lower.
The speedy is a nice looking bike but i don't really need a bike that size engine, the 675 street is a more sporty looking bike i recon.
The one i'm buying is a 2009, orange with a 3/1 Arrow, much better looking without the dustbins on the side, plus it pulls wheelies for fun, i'm such a poser i fear.

You should cadge a spin on it James, you'll see what i mean about the weight, heavy old b1tch, the weight is pretty much mid, so when it starts to go over, it's nigh impossible to stop it.
Stunning looking bike though, i agree mate.

Maybe its a heavy old bastard too Blueprintz!!! We had a street triple with the same system and it was lovely. Ended up with the speedy for two up and longer distance mileage destruction. The GT1000 meanwhile is lovely, dual spark engine and very comfy, but I went for the Bonnie because of the English label and I couldn't find a good one second hand. Here's to a future of happy biking all round!!!
