I don't see why it wouldn't be OK to use synthetic for oil?

If anything fork oil has a harder time than engine oil, it's a closed hydraulic system without a filter anywhere.
I think sythentics are long chain co-polymers which tend to unwind over time and offer more opportunity for mechanical shear damage, the oil gets literally chopped up. This is the sludge component in old hard used semi, full synth engine oil.

As long as the viscosity is right it doesn't make a deal of difference in a modern design fork, there's no seals depending on mineral oil to keep them working, the seals will be viton type materials.
If you can get the stuff at what you think is a reasonable price (depends how often you plan to change it) then go for it.

Today wasn't too bad, no rain just cloudy so options were give the bike a clean, scrub and lube chain then out for a blast round.. or cut some grass. Errrr tough choice but just finished chain when Rosies boy announces that he's got a little hole in his car and can I help fix it?
Little!! HA could fit a size 8 boot through it.
One big welding session later and no out on the bike :(
