I posted this on ducatisti a few weeks ago but didnt get any sort of answer.

I've owned my 696 for about 6 months or so and have considered swapping it several times. Mainly because I feel I want a bit more power and better suspension. But since I've had it, I've realised what a brilliant little bike it is. I've done about 3k miles on it, Inc a TT trip and it's been brilliant. So now I'm sat thinking is it worth the swap to a 1100s? I wouldn't do it just yet, as I've just put tyres and tax on the 696 but maybe early next year (march ish) . My mate reckons it's boring to go for effectively the same bike just with more power but I reckon it could be what I'm after as it'd still have the monster charm, but in a better package for me. So is it the same bike with more power? Or a different beast entirely? It'd have to White with gold bits I went for.

I'd be so sad to see the little monster sell though.

I went from 696 to 796 ABS in the summer - I use mine for london commuting and changed due to high mileage but do rather regret not going for 1100Evo.

796 is a great bike and different to the 696 in position, power and height but I'd opt for the bigger bike next time.

Boring? Never!!

i must admit, i sat on a 1100s yesterday and it just fits me so much better. I'm 6ft so a bit too big for the 696. I love the ohlins and gold wheels too.

Not sure if i can justify the extra cash to swap though. Plus itd have to have termi's again and finding a white 1100s with termi at the right price will be hard i guess.

I think the upgrade would be worth it, especially if you stretched to the newer 1100EVO next year, though that should help to push the 1100S prices down a little. Both give you that little bit of extra power and are a taller bike which should help as you're taller. :)
Both bikes get very good feedback.

Not that I hang on every word said on the MCN website, but some of the reviews of the M1100EVO on there have been posted by numpties... Where do they find them from??!:banghead:

I like some parts that the evo has Such as the rearsets etc. But i prefer the ohlins, and gold wheels of the "S". Plus i promised myself it'd be white too.

Ideally id need to be sub £7k for a low mileage 1100s. Manchster sold a 60 plate for 7500.

I've been looking enviously at the 1100EVO, the 696 is great but it is just a little smaller, I notice it more in the city with both feet firmly on the ground. If it (the 1100 ) has to be white ( which I agree with) , I think the tank panels will fit across the range...although that is not official. For me I'd like the extra power for the long trips and 2 up journeys. And would have no hesitation staying in the Monster family.

You know that you won't get a straight swap don't you ;)

LOL Someone had to pick that one up ... or is it just my warped brain at work??

You could say it would be boring to go from one jap 4 to another jap 4 too I imagine, though maybe the change of makers name makes it just that bit more daring and exciting.
If you like what you have and want more then it's the way to go, and you do get a lot more!
