Am I missing something?

Or is it a 696 with a bigger engine and no mini fairing?

You are aware that it is cheaper then 696 :)?

It also appears to have 3bhp more over 796 but 8lb-ft ot Torque less.

I'd happily trade 3hp for another 8ft lb of torque, sounds like a massive step backwards in usable power

Yep I agree, this bike is not about BHP so no point at all. Only thing is how much cheaper it will be as if it is quite a lot it might endup as private import here.

The bike only seems available for the Asia Market anyway.

Well as said a 696 with a big bore kit.

From the tech specs it looks like it's a 696 with a 796 engine.

The tech specs for the chassis are identical to the specs for the 696 with the exception of the weight (696=161kg, 795=167kg) which is the same as the 796. Also it only comes with a red frame and black wheels, as does the 796.

The bore, stroke, displacement, compression ratio, power, torque and gearing are the same as the 796.

It will be interesting to see how much they are when the first imports turn up here.

Some more details here: http://www.indiancarsbikes.in/motorcycles/ducatis-loco-monster-795-unveiled-sit-monster-796-terms-price-positioning-50425/

Made in Thailand, some bits sent over from Bologna, some made locally. Lower seat height to suit asian market (so there's the possibility of using those bits to lower 696/796 - new height 770mm). 160 rear tyre, not 180.

I have a mate out in India, he's trying to find out what the local price is going to be.

The 770mm seat height is the same as the current 696 as is the 160/60 rear tyre.

From looking at the specs it would very much appear to be a 796 engine in a 696 chassis. Everything except the engine is the same as the current 696.

Would be interesting to know which parts will actually be made in Thailand.

could be good for me in Thailand but plastic tank could be a big problem due to gasohol warping issues hope they use a steel tank.

T sell well in Thailand the price will have to be below £8000 as triumph messed up with their price points Bonny 900is £11,000 ,Street Triple 675 is £14,000 and HD sportster is £13,000

all due to local taxes
