Hi Guys + Girls,

I've recently got a 900sie and love it. It's got the standard cans on at the moment but I got a set of Remus Grand Prix high mounts with it for an extra couple of quid.

I took the foot peg hangers off last night to see how it would all go together. I can see that the mount on the S pipe going into the actual can would go on the reverse side of the foot peg mount.

I can see that the mount on the top of the can would *somehow* attach the either the main subframe rail or the outrigger which the seat sort of sits round but I have no kind of adaptor (I'd assume a P clip would suffice but it's a bit mickey mouse!!).

It also looks like i'd need some spacers to move the foot pegs out by ~25mm so that the S pipe would fit behind it.

But I don't have any of it. Does anyone know of a supplier or know of anybody that might have something that might work?

So my shopping list is:
2x top mounts (near seat release key + opposite side).
8x spacers of varying sizes, i would imagine
Longer bolts to accept the spacers.

Please help! I need my little monster to roar!!

Holy crap that's big. Err sorry about that. Move a bit further away from your computer :p

Xenocide, I had some recently and they had a flat piece of metal about 30mm x 5mm thick that went across the top of the seat rails to hold the two hi level silecers in place. It was slightly bent at each end and held in place with a second piece of metal. It wouldn't be difficult to make the same with some aliminium or metal. Mine didn't have spacers and the pipes fitted behind the peg mounts as you describe. The only picture I have is this one: -

I hope it helps?

If you've had the tail chopped, you may end up with the dreaded "wheelbarrow" look with the cans sticking out past the plate / rear light etc.......

Thanks Rally, that's a bit help. Interesting how you didn't need spacers. Maybe I was just being too wimpy with them. I'll have another fiddle.

I'll see if I can knock up a mount like that. I'd not thought about going all the way over the top like that. :).

Thanks for your help guys :)

[Edit: I'll get some more locktite for the stand bolt too ;) ]

Well yes, but I'm sure a home-made version could be fabricated from aluminium for considerably less...

I have some stainless steel here if you need it. It is about 3mm thick and in a small sheet so would need cutting out etc.

have you thought about putting the cans low down, looks much better IMHO

My hi-level termis needed spacers on the footrest brackets....about 10mm.
A bag of big washers would be handy for the first time you fit them, though you'll not have room for many before you run out of bolt length.
Note that, if its the same as my 750, the upper pair of bolts are 8mm, while the lower pair are 10mm.
My cans are held on alloy brackets that fit below the rear frame rails, and are attached via the bolts which hold the rear plastic guard.

Thanks for your help guys. When i've got all the bits of my old bike out the garage, i'll have a go at getting these mounted up :).

FWIW the link pipes on my high levels (Sil's and WRP's) have a flat on the side to clear the footrest hangers. The pipe is a D section over about 3" of it's length at that point. No spacers required on either the solo or trike during installation. Maybe you can modify yours to match - I'll try to post a photo later

If you get stuck my 1000 has high level pipes if a look see would help - my mother in law lives in Southwick so we're over your way quite regularly

That might be helpful. Thanks Pedro! :)

I've had a go at modelling my idea on the computer. What do you think to this? Can you see any potential problems? The P Clips would have rubber in them, i just couldn't be bothered to model them :).

Seems a bit OTT

My high levels just hang from a P clip on the seat rail - mind you the SIL's do have a strap mounting rather than fixed bracket like yours

Most purpose made hangers use a single plate that mounts under the inner seat rails that supports both cans

Next revision then :).

I meant to put the bar over the top of the subframe but i just realised i didn't and I can't be bothered to change it just yet. It's fun this 3D stuff, i've not done it before :).

You may struggle to get seat to fit if you install the bracket over the top

The layout pictured should work better. Use at least 3mm material for main bracket - P clips can be thinner at 1.5-2.0mm

I made this set for Retskids S4 which were high level termis the same as remus I think.

Made from 1mm stainless steel plate. The one by the seat lock attatches to it from behind and are almost a copy of the termi brackets.

Please note that I converted mine from hi levels to s4r shotgun mid rise as you can see the cans in pic. o as not to confuse you

Another option, is to make the 'blue' extension bracket marry-up to the rear side panel hole

If you remove the rubber 'nut' first, you get a larger fixing point, one on each side, no need for central cross-over

I've done this on my 900ie, and it works fine

Thanks for your help guys. I think i'll go for a bit of both :).

The mount on the cars are a bit further forward than the lock so I don't think I can use that mounting point :(.

I'll take another look though because i'm never known for being *that* picky about measurements :p.

Thanks again! I'll take some pictures of what I come up with

I got a rough mockup done today. The O/S exhaust is fine just on the outrigger bit. The left one is totally misaligned and doesn't actually reach as far out as the outrigger bit. Weird.. The standard can was loose on the N/S but nice and right on the O/S. Maybe the subframe is bent?

Ignore how rough it all looks, i need to trim a bit off, paint it, make a proper spacer (as i measured it wrong.. oops), adjust it a bit because it's not *quite* lining up correctly and use some fixing that arn't far too long :)
