Well here we are nearly a week has passed since I’ve had an operation on my left ear. I’ve had a new prosthetic Stapes fitted to try and overcome a loss of hearing due to Otosclerosis which causes the bones in your ear to seize up. That entails a general anaesthetic and entrance to the middle ear via the ear canal by lifting the ear drum.
The first few days were interesting where I was pretty dizzy all the time and felt essentially sea sick, so any strong smell or tasty food was enough to turn my tummy so I’ve lost a few kilos as well. Certainly on the mend now but still dizzy and I have the odd moment as a pocket of air seems to pop in your ear and that throws me a bit.
So, no bikes for me for another week or two, which is a bit of a bummer as the weather is great today.

Which only makes me worry more about yours GT!
We are now both the owners of prosthetic items. :D

Thanks for the kind wishes, unfortunately I'm on light duties only so I can't even sneak off to the garage to fettle a few things.

That doesn't sound like such a bad deal to me...bike or icecream would be a tough choice, guess it's different when the choice is made for you though...Get well soon!

...Then if you could get one of those small tubs and wedge it inside your helmet, you could have the best of both worlds...riding a Monster, but icecream-flavoured

Hope the discomfort is fading and you're gradually getting back to your normal self......... anyways I find that in this kind of situation, a suitable medication, eg Talisker, Caol Isla, Lagavulin works wonders.

Mind you I would also suggest those for easing the symptoms of flu, cold, aching joints, athletes foot, baldness, ingrowing toe nails....... (any excuse!!)

Hope you make a speedy recovery. Being off the bikes, booze and curry can't be any fun.

Much as I'd normally second Gordon's suggestion of what my dentist referred to as "the Scottish cure" (though prefer a Highland or Speyside to the kipper and fisherman's friend flavour of the peated Island malts myself), if you're head's spinning I can see they might lack their usual appeal.

We'll really start to worry if you're off the Limoncello and start asking people to swap their termis for original baffled pipes!

Talisker - Skye, with others being Islay malts........

To the educated pallette, the way a single malt should taste.

According to my dad helicopter fuel tasted quite nice...never worked on one myself so can't say for sure though :chuckle:

"Talisker - Skye, with others being Islay malts........"

I said Island not Islay - or do you not count Skye as a proper island since the bridge was built?

Not having tasted helicopter fuel I couldn't compare it to Lagavulin - does that make me a peasant too?
