Hi All

Despite general displeasure at UKMOC at it's appearance; I decided to buy the Puig double bubble smoke screen for 696 / 796 / 1100 from BS Motorparts in Germany (via eBay)

I must say I actually like it now it's fitted - it also does the job reducing wind blast from brief test run - but need to bend the M1100 brake reservoir brackets a bit to avoid contact at speed

What do you Guys think? Honestly?!?

Ade

The bike looks good and the screen doesn't look out of place either.

What was I thinking!?... that would have been much better... I'll give Philip Treacy a call and see if he'll do me one in black?

Thanks Char

Thanks for the kind words on the general look - I wasn't fishing for compliments... but i'll take them before Albie tells me the screen looks like the one off an old codgers C90...

I found a thread a couple of days ago on another forum while googling for a bikini fairing that apparently doesnt exist. I cant find it again annoyingly but anyway; it had a collection of all front fairings available for new shaped monsters and I sat looking at them all feeling the taste of vomit creep slowly up my throat.

This one however isn't bad. I don't like it much if I'm honest, but like Rally says I don't think its out of place either. I just think all the designs out there at the minute ruin the front 'hunched' look of the new monsters. Considering the hopeless choice out there I think you've done well with that. If you feel you really need one then I'd say thats as good as you'll get for now.

Rant over... sorry but I've seen the ugliest amount of stuff on tinterweb recently and can't for the life of me work out why companies are hiring blind people to do their designs. The original Ducati bikini fairing is right up there fighting for first place too.

Hi Bex
Did you mean something like the thing attached (Puke)? reminded me of a Honda C90 screen again..

I agree there isn't much out there to inspire so maybe we ned to take the lead here?

I'm thinking about minimalism for mine - love the simplicity of this attached bevel Ducati

What style focus do you feel suit the new Monsters?

I dont really think they suit front fairings full stop to be honest. I think the shape and the position of the headlight doesn't allow it to be done nicely. Am planning to drop my clocks or get different ones and modify an instruments cover from another bike to change the look, at the minute the top front end on new models just looks uncomfortable.

That said I'm prob just fussy because I dont like front fairings in general on street bikes; naked bike and all that...I like the scrap it unless you need it theory.

Then again, if you're being blown around the place then one might say you do need it!

I agree, lets start a business, then take over the world. Simples.

That first one reminds me of a riot squad shield :running:

Yep I hate the top front end too - really lets it down and don't start me on the mirrors..

I'd be very interested in how to get the classic clocks and a 7 inch traditional style headlamp in there without the electronics having a hissy fit if you find out?

Yep also much prefer the naked look which is why I went Monster not an 848 - just with the grunt of the 1100 I keep finding myself at speeds where naked isn't much fun unless you like your head ripped off

Lol fair point, you need your head.

I'll prob keep my headlamp as I think still think it suits the new shape but will let you know if I find anything.

I'm sure one of the Belgian guys on herehas a put a classic clock on a new monster, someone here must know who..anyone??

if you ask me, which you probably wont, i think bikes are either designed for fairings or no fairings - dont change it

I think it still looks at his best without any screen and that you need to hide your liscense plate in your pictures :)

Hi Martin - i'd totally agree with that

For some reason this Monster is a nightmare for buffeting at speed - my classics never were

If I add my Baglux cover and bag it's okay - but with my current X-lite lid It's really a problem at 65+

I'll probably get an aerodynamic lid like the Shoei XR100 when funds allow - then I can take the screen off - but till then

Either way I thought i'd share with others who might be considering a bigger screen

Oh all right... truth is I was looking forward to Albie going off on one when he sees it?!!! he he

It looks better than I thought but I still dont like the look. The fairing looks too small for it and it is tbh
Its more practical yes if you wind blast annoys you. Personally I bought a naked bike for minimalist and the stock fairing is too small to do anything other than protect the clocks.
I do think its expensive for what it is but have no doubt its quality.

Anyhow don't worry about my comments as they are just that. Each of us has likes and dislikes . Some dont like carbon.

Oh mate I don't want to hate it. Its purposeful. As I see mine being removed once I get the carbon bottom cover.

Now what you going to do next then on it ??
