If I wanted to fit the Gold calipers from a 620 on my S2R do I HAVE to buy the 320mm discs as well or can I use what I have? I plan to do the discs as well but wanted to add them at a later date when I have more money

Also does anyone happen to have any goldline Brembo's?

i have seen it done with the 300mm discs but you will need spacers 4-5mm between the forks and calipers or behind the discs as the 300mm discs are flat whereas the 320s have a 10mm offset

deduct the thickness in mm of the existing discs from 10 (i think the re 6mm) and thats the size spacer you will need

dont know if this is such a good idea tbh as the pads will only be contacting a small portion of the disc

NB you might find you need new brake lines as the banjo bolt are in a different place on the 4 piston 2 pad P4/34 gold lines, the 749/999 4 piston, 4 pad calipers were ok with the existing lines if i remember rightly

Best to leave it until I can afford the lot then. The 749 calipers aren't just a bolt on mod are they?

yep 4 pad 4 piston 749/999 calipers are a straight bolt on with 320mm discs with a 10mm offset
many have done this on here, diego , Cragie, Gilps i have seen 1st hand

i have 15mm offset discs so i had my 999 calipers machined to fit

I put 4/2 goldlines and 320mm discs on my S2R and the different banjo placings were a pain, fortunately for me at the time I also fitted clip ons so found standard SS fittings then fitted and solved that issue for me.

I used the calipers from a 749. They bolt straight on but you will need 320mm discs. I fitted the Braking wavy ones as they were the cheapest option, at around £200 for the pair - about half the cost of new Brembos. Do you still have the 620? If you do then you could swap them over, as the later 620's came with the same brakes as the S2R.

Nope only have one bike at a time and sold the 620 a while back. When ordering new lines can I just order S2R1k ones?

Also are the 749 calipers better than the goldlines?

yep S2R1K lines would work with goldlines but not the 4 pad

for the 4 pads you can do it a couple of ways

originally i had a double banjo straight out of the master and a line going down to each caliper
when i put the clips ons on, this was a bit cramped around the controls so I changed the lines so a single line went from the master to one caliper, then via a double head banjo looped over the mudgaurd to the other side v in one of the calipers, this is how its done on the 999 too

i can sell you my old lines it your interested

Also are the 749 calipers better than the goldlines?

they have 4 independent pads, 1 for each piston. which gives a greater braking force,

but this also makes them twice as expensive to replace

they look better too imho

I'm sure I didn't replace the brake lines. Just fitted the new calipers and discs and away I went. I didn't even replace the master cylinder.

If you fit P4's you'll need to change the brake lines as the ports on the calipers are in a different orientation to goldline, or you can twist the standard lines into submission. :nash:

Once fitted you'll find a world of difference. :)
