Hi

My M600 doesn't feel all that quick to me, it seems to run out of puff and I was wondering whether it might be restricted to 33bhp.

Does anyone know how it was done and therefore can I tell?

Cheers

Glen.

If you are thinking in terms of top speed, I've had two M600's a 95 and a 2000, both stopped really pulling around 90 mph, and one of them had a fair bit done to it, pipes, filter and power commander and it was set up superbly by Baines racing.

Saying that, they were both fairly quick getting there and fairly short gear shifts to fifth.

As far as I know, the restriction is normally done with washers to reduce the size of the inlet into the engine from the carb, couldn't tell you exactly where to find them though as I've never seen one. Alternative way to do it is to use a stop on the throttle to physically prevent it revving high enough to get over the 33bhp, but that should be fairly obvious if you have one :)

Scott's right though, monsters aren't the fastest bikes for the engine size although they get there quite quickly, really depends how soon it seems to be running out! The 695 is ok and still feels good to go faster at 110mph but you'd definitely notice the lack of power compared to a similar sized sports bike

I'm not sure about this, but I've seen exploded drawings of the exhaust system on some monsters, where there was a restriction piece fitted between the headers and the cans, which I was told was to do with the 33bhp limit.

I've heard of something similar too...would be nice and easy to check if there is

Usual 33bhp restrictor is either the carb inlets or a stop plate on the trottle linkage

Thanks guys - carb stuff should be easy enough to see through the air box I would have thought. Filter removed of course.

If you do have a 33bhp restriction kit you don't want, there was someone on here looking to buy one recently.
