How many of our monster owners have considered part ex'in for the SF ?

Havnt ridden it but its on the to do list and I wonder what the advantages would be over the S2 and S4 series.

Im sure there was a thread recently comparing the S4RS with the updated monsters and the RS came out on top. Would it be the same outcome against the SF ?

40mm higher seat height and a 15.5 L tank as opposed to the 14 L tank on the S2's, think the S4's are also 14 without checking.

Liquid cooled, more power so with the right rider would probably leave the S2's gaspin a bit. Maybe not so with the S4's.

Michael Neeves bloody loves it but at around the 10k mark, your as good as doubling what you would pay for a top S2R, less so for the S4 series.

As an overall package its looking good, at 169 dry its lighter than the old monsters except for capo's which is about the same weight as a pack of quavers.

When I think of what bikes could tempt me into a part ex, theres very few, but this is getting nearer.

dunno but reckon they'll stop production soon - they seem not to have taken off at all. I have to admit I didn't like it when it first came out but its grown on me

If only I had more money in the bank as I would deffo have one, I find the monster a little cramped so the taller seat height would make it more comfortable adn the extra oomph can always come in handy :spin:

I saw a red one the other day in Shoreditch with a top box on the back! Apart from that sighting I think they look the business.

If you do get the chance to ride one, it would be great to have a write up, if they're not selling, maybe dealers are willing to let people test them?

It's probably the only bike I'd swap the monster for...but at the moment it would have to just be a swap, none of this part exchange stuff :D Would probably be a bit too much of a step up from mine anyway, shame they never made an 848 version as well (although it probably wouldn't have made that much sense!)

Recon Ducati lost out by not naming it the Monster Streetfighter, could have been a whole different story

Mr.Number

I was surprised when Mike Neeves who i understand is 6ft or over claimed he could ride it all day and it was comfortable. mcn had the bike for around a month i think and neeves took it all over europe - france, spain etc etc and he genuinely loved it, with no intention to plug the bike for ducati at all.

I will test ride one over the coming month and tag a few comments onto this thread.

I was considering getting one 2 years ago when I got the 1100s but it was well overpriced at the time. I struggled with my feeling its not a monster and I would find it hard to be accepted in the forum with a SF. Foolishly Ducati branded it wrong IMHO. They should have developed a monster streetfighter then it would have sold.

Yes I still would like one but then I would also like an 848 monster too

IMHO the SF is what the new breed of monsters should look like. Mean and aggressive! I love it. The new shapes monsters, not so much...

I'm not overly struck on it Looks wise.. But I have not ridden it so can't comment.
All this new technology scares me!!! My M600 is the most advanced thing I've owned!!
It has brakes !! Digital watches scare me!!

It would be awesome if they made an 848 Streetfighter although I would'nt mind the 1098 version either :D

Agree with comments on the new Monsters looking a little too 'friendly' but the Evo is slightly better

TBH, the monster is seen by other riders and Ducatisti as being cool, whereas the streetfighter is just a naked sportsbike.

Personally, I like playing with the i4 600s who see the monnie as easy prey :D

See now S4Rs or Streetfighter would be a hard choice and if you throw in the new Monster Evo it makes it even worse!

I

I started with an S2r, then got an S4Rs then a tricolore S4rs then a Streetfighter. It was more comfortable than the RS with more leg room and slightly more upright. Only two issues, right foot fouled the exhaust shield, and the bars were angled down a bit causing a bit of wrist ache for me at 6ft. I turned the bars through a few degrees which made them better, then changed them for Rizoma fatbars which were perfect.

Performance is fantastic, and the handling a bit faster turn in with all the usual Ducati stabiity, given the standard steering damper there was no head shake as on the S2 and to a lesser extent the S4rs.

If you do test one, be sure to give it plenty of time because the feeling that you are well forward like on a Hypomotard can be offputting at first but when you get used to it.......

Sold mine when I got a Multistrada because although the SF was brilliant, the multi is more practical, luggage etc, and whenever I went out I ended up on the Multi. Do I regret selling? yep just as much as I regret selling the Tricolore, would like to have kept all three.

Also an SF is good for taunting Martin with:D

My only comment is "don't demo a SF" because its very addictive, I've not yet got enough miles on the clock for its first service but I will admit to it being rather fast for this olde fart...:dizzy:

I think that ducati got it wrong by not badging it monster SF...

I think ducati wanted to come away from the main blood line monster with this one.

Looking at the models - monster, classics, hypermotard, multi, 848/1098 etc they were missing a modern sports naked to take on the Z750/1000's FZ1000's CB1000's etc etc.

Its got its own place in the market so I think it was right not to include it in the monster line.

We all know and love what the real monster is and the design of the SF is far removed from that in my opinion so giving the SF its own track was right.

Iv not seen anything suggesting the SF was struggling to sell, quite the opposite actually, iv read an article that claims ducati couldnt produce them quick enough for the europe market.

Will try and find it...............in the meantime, loving the red frame against the black body on this.

that is one good looking bike! I saw a red on at the TT and thought it looked nice, but the one above trumps it!

I did a demo ride on the Streetfighter S at the Ace Cafe Ducati demo day a while back. Couldn't ride it "properly" as they were escorted rides around North London on busy roads. What I did take a way is that you feel very far forward, almost on the bars, and the suspension felt very plush.

I'm keeping an eye on prices as they are becoming better and better value I recon...

To my mind it wouldn't make sense for Ducati to make an 848 SF, I would have loved one that size especially if it was an EVO engined version but the cost would have probably been very similar and I think that the 1098 engine would be less stressed than the 848...

I went to the NEC in november to look at the EVO the the intention of buying one but on the stand next to the EVO was a tricked up SF and that did it for me, as you say the new monsters are a little friendly looking were as the SF is a real mean looker, I'd post pics if I only knew how...:dunce:

1) open a www.photobucket.com account

2) click "upload now" and find the photos on your PC

3) click "my albums" on the photobucket page to view all your photos

4) if you hover over the photo, it will come up with a number of different links, simply click on the "IMG code" link... it will say "copied", then paste into a thread.

it really is that easy... now SHOW ME THE BIKE!!!! :mand: :mand: :chuckle:

Is that a gel comfort seat ?

Streetfighter is tall but its very slim and does look beautiful, i like the 4 valve engines a lot now but the testastretta is actually more of a pig to work on than a desmoquattro , strange as on first appearance the heads and valve covers offer more access for work such as shimming valves but the procedure is actually more involved and fiddly with more dismantling required , and another set of shim kit needs buying as the testa motors use different shims from the earlier 4 valve motors .

Well its funny you should say that..but a the weekend whilst at the motogp as a guest of a very good friend we visited his sons work shops at the circuit were he designs and builds race and road cars (have a look at the Vemon GT) thats their baby, the whole of the body is some of the best carbon fibre that I've seen and whilst we were discussing the quality it was suggested that if I want anything made of carbon as long as there were enough orders it would be posible. All they need is a the original part which they then 3D scan, make a mould and bingo a beautifully made piece of bling, as I've already said there would have to be enough to make it profitable.
Blimey Andy the world could be your oyster  in carbon...;);)

May need your help there, Geoff. Stuart's got issues with the seat on my old SV – seems he's not got enough of his own posterior padding to cope with the few mills of race seat I donated with it! I've suggested gel implants in his buttocks, but he's not keen on the location. :D He's getting the gel, but we may need help finding a professional to put it in the seat!

I just ripped a gel pad out of one of my seats..
it was heavy and it kept leaking sticky stuff out.
Cost £50 and was sposed to be medical grade for motorcycles...
But then again I do not have a boney bum its very well padded...

Also the seat was shaved right down to min foam (as I like it) and due to my height :)
Put the gel pad in got seat home put it on and guess who could no longer touch the ground DOH!!

my mate Gop rode his streetfighter from Singapore to chiang mai in 2 days 19 hour frenzy thats 1700 miles in total and his max speed on the thai highway was 270kph he is nuts but was walking funny at the end and needed a lot of Thai massage, he went back in 19 hours too.
