Just got back from Italy and the papers are all talking about the next sbk Ducati, but not just talking now pictures are starting doing the rounds(I've seen a couple) and, albeit the plastics are from a 1098 what's underneath is pretty radical: no trellis, engine rotated backwards, longer swingarm and there's talks of a new, seamless clutch system. Hopefully officially presented in November.

presumably everyone will be chasing Honda's gearshift system for next year.

Don't want to think what 31 is for then :eyepopping: ...I'm assuming with this being a Ducati, the other 4 is the bit that falls off :chuckle:

Sorry to break this to you but the numbers are not labelling particular parts of the bike.

It is in fact a guide to the strength of cheese used to make the bolts that hold the various parts together.

1 being parmesan, 10 being camembert

Cheers

It has a massively long swingarm. Stop the wheelies a bit

Camembert, it's not a Voxan, they use Ricotta.

I'm quite impressed that they managed to invent a 31-strength cheese for the cylinder heads then. Unless it means a blend of 1 and 3 cheese, maybe a sort of parmesan/double gloucester mix...

Slightly less convinced about their plans to use 2 around the gearbox area though, particularly when they seem to have rated air as a grade 4 cheese! :eyepopping: Guess it would have to be ridden quite...um..."Caerphilly" :chuckle:

Let the cheese-puns commence!!!

Shame there's no exhaust in the diagram...otherwise I could tell you that 31 would brie where the cheddar pipes are attached ;)

Just let us know when you camembert it any longer :D

The rider would appear to be Danilo Petrucci, based upon the press reports and the leathers.

So Duacti have a new superbike for 2012 and Troy Bayliss is being employed by Duacti as test rider to develop the bike for racing, the intention being to win the World Superbike championship.

Valentino Rossi has said that when he leaves MotoGP he wants to ride in World Superbike.

So I expect to see Valentino riding the superquadrata in World Superbikes in 2013 for a full factory Ducati team. Could his aim be to equal or beat Carl Fogaty's 4 SBK championship wins? After all if Max Biaggi and Troy Bayliss can win the championship aged 39, then maybe Vale can win 5 SBK world championships before he's 40 in 2019.
