How does one tell the difference between a stock and a touring seat?

part codes on the plastic base are the same for all the differnet types i have seen (stock, lowered and possibly )

i know the lowered seats have a sort of voulour finish (that lets water into the foam apparently!. yeach)

not so obvious as older bikes cos you cant see the gel pads

anyone got a nstock a nd a normal dp (non lowered) one who can tell me what differences are
thanks

The touring seat has a higher density foam inside. It is harder but more give if you get my drift. It is defined by the red stitching from front to back and also has a different vinyl down the sides. Slightly rough feel. Worth every penny or £140. The lowered racing seat has the velour type of material. The DP race seat which I also have is high density foam and a single seat and NO pillion and covered in with the carbon cowel. Its defined by white stitching around the shape of a seat and states Ducati Performance.
The stock has colourless stitching

See added pics. There was a bargain touring one the other day. Just the expensive one yes. Retails at just under £600.

My stock seat just got me home. Ok but not as good as tourer. Pillion is comfy according to my better half. Flatter the older.

Mine is the lowered 'sponge', but the standard one I got with it looks the same as Albies 'touring' seat...

Just checked mine. Yes it does but have to admit never noticed it in nearly 2 years :dunce::dunce:

Bex they may have changed slightly in the time. I know the evo seat looks better now.

i know its confusing, hence the thread,

the stock ones have sticthing round the rider saddle not all the ay to the back, and a Ducati logo emboosed into the rear of the pillion seat

and they ALL have the same part code on the bottom

thanks for making it simple Ducati

The first thing I did when I bought my bike was to replace the seat as the covering was wrecked but I am considering whether I could have the old seat customised to make it more pillion friendly. Anyone tried this?

Where are the touring seats from?

The comfort seats are made in Italy i guess

None of these fit the earlier monster like yours, and touring seats for the older monsters are getting harder to find. Alternative option is to buy a corbin or sergant seat, or get one re-covered to a custom design.

If you have the old style seat and you want to make it pillion friendly you really want to take a leaf out of Corbin's book and scoop a bit so they sit in it rather than slide off the back. Ducati actually make a old model new concept touring seat based on the new ones with high density foam.Chris Yeatman has one and very fairly price imho.

They produce a new version for the older monsters. Its available from Ducati Dealers. Chris Y has one and AlanC is interested in getting one. They are not the Gel seats but density foam now.

Yes I know - pity they stopped making the DP Gel seat :(

Glad I got one for the trike when I did

As I already have a spare seat I might look at getting that shaped and recovered in the first instance. I had my ST2 seat shaped in the past and that worked a treat!
