Finally got a bike :D need a bit of help on a couple of things please!

1) It is idling too low so can anyone tell me where the adjuster screw thing is? (S2R 800) (probably tell me in the book but just in case)

2) The baffles are stuck! The nut is out but it won't budge, any ideas how to get it out?

Thanks!

1) It's not that easy I'm afraid, there are 2 air idle screws - one on each throttle body. But first, reset the TPS then you can alter the idle air bypass screws with a manometer (carb balancer) connected to make sure they're set even and you may need to adjust the trim to suit also.

2) Take the can off, and use a wooden broom handle from the backside

Thanks!

1) Sounds like I'll just get them to sort it when it goes in for service this week

2) Good idea!

Well done on getting a new bike, that's good news, some pics will be good.

With removing baffles, sometimes you have to let them erm marinate for a quite a while in some wd40 or ACF50, if that doesn't work, you can possibly try a slide hammer, either way they are hard work and take some patience and be as gentle as poss.

Don't take the screws out, think they are stuck and go and ride the thing.

Good luck.

Thanks, pics will be up once it's clean!

On the baffle thing, I can't shove a broom handle down the other side because the cans are joined to a bendy link pipe (1 piece)

For the baffles on mine I use a slide hammer as mentioned, I had to make a hook adaptor to grip the bar across the middle.

Got the baffles out!

Stafford's reply gave me an idea. I used some pliers to grip the bar across the middle of the baffle and used all 9 stone of me to wiggle and pull the baffle and I manged to get them out leaving me staring into two massive black holes  (can't wait to start it up again)

Thanks everyone

you might want to dremmel your baffles a bit before putting them back in for MOTs and the like

I remember doing that on a first version LC Yam. Stupid bar came straight off :eyepopping:
Having broken the exausts I just had to change them

The baffles were completely black and looked very 'restrictive' so no doubt it is going to be pretty loud even with the cat still in place :D
