Just about to start the strip down and rebuild of my m900 and was wondering if there are any mods that will give a little more power whilst I am at it. Considering things like changes to the airbox, filters etc rather than major (expensive) mods as the cost of this project is already creeping up.

ST2 cams are good, have a look at Brad Blacks website for possible tips.

Try one less tooth on the front sprocket. Cheap as chips and it'll brighten it up the off the bottom. It'll lower the top speed but will you miss it? The speedo won't be out by much either.

Speedo won't be effected by sprocket swap on early monster

Drive comes from front wheel

14t Sprocket sounds good but cams and NOS are probably bigger changes than I want to embark on just yet....

So any comments on air filters etc?

Open up the air box OR use a performance filter. Don't do both unless you're willing to re-jet the carb.

Open top box and K&N airrfilter, nice little induction roar from it as well.

Or something cheaper:

If you are doing the race can and filter thing you may as well get the Factory Pro kit and get it set up on a dyno.

Yes, you start with cutting the airbox lid and then the descent down the slippery slope begins, culminating in FCR carbs, big-bore, High-comp pistons, gasflowed heads, ST2 cams...

Factory Pro:

Dyno Jett:

Go for the stage 2 kit first, saves you doing it later!

I currently have BOS Carbon exhausts but I know nothing about them, anyone heard of them, are they race cans?

Yes. I had an open air box, and was on my way down that slippery slope when I though 'sod this' and bought an R1 :chuckle: You really do have to stop and think if its worth it.

Any comments between Factory Pro and Dynojet?

I think it is a personal thing, my tuner used Factory Pro I know others prefer Dynojet. I used a stage 2 on my 600, but my tuner messed about with all sorts of jets to get the best performance he could.

As for tuning to the max, take your time and collect the bits as you go, it took me 5 years to get the 900SS engine at the price i wanted. I have the Hi-comp pistons Im now waiting for the cams etc.....
