Hi, can anyone advise please, I have to replace the belts on a newly acquiered 2001 M600 Dark, the current belts are maked 737 4007 2A the same number as in the on-line parts-listing, however there are some on Ebay with a parts number of 737 1002 1A suggesting this is a newer revised part.

JOHN

Found the item in question, if it were me, I'd phone them to confirm that they will fit, and that they are genuine items, if you're happy with the answers, then go for it. You could also give Craig a call at MotoRapido 01962877996 (very helpful chap), although he may not wish to tell you if you have no intention of buying from him!! (ask for a price, you never know, and at least you can be sure they'll fit!!)

Hi Icanopit,

Give David Nicholson a bell from solocorse on 07910136722 - he supplies good belts at a good price, used them on my 620, gates as well I believe which is an OEM manufacturer anyway

...... 737.1005.1A and 737.4007.2A are interchangeable...

You've hit the wrong key there, Nick ?
The first one should be 737.1002.1A.

My Y2K M750 came with the latter (...4007.2A, fitted by Ducati dealer), and it now has the former (...1002.1A, Supplied by JHP, fitted by me).
So yes, they're interchangeable.
I'm curious to know if there is any difference...maybe there was a materials upgrade which would be worth using...maybe they just changed suppliers.
They're round-tooth type.

My memory might not be accurate, but I remember raising this issue when I bought my belts, and I ....think.... that the later part was the ...4007.2A, which does sound likely as its the higher number, but I could be wrong.
Dunno whether that means they're any better or not.
I went for the lower number, cos that was quoted as correct for my model, even though the ones I took off were the others.
Never was too sure whether that was the right choice, or whether I was missing out on an upgrade, but both sets have run the full service distance with no probs.

Hi ALL, thanks for advice and observations. I recieved notes from the Fleabay seller "getechperformance.com" advising that the lower number 737.1002.1A was the upgraded part number?, having also been assured by them if I had any difficulties they would assist, impressed with their reply.
I have ordered from them as the pricing was very good for genuine parts + they are not too far away from me.
Now I only have to put the Vinyl gloves on and get the job done including gaps etc and balance the carbs before I take it on a run down to Silverstone tommorow.

Thanks again JOHN

If thats correct, then it would seem that I have the upgraded belts in mine at the moment then.
Mine are due for replacement again soon, so I'll see if I can ferret out any more info on the actual differences between the two when I get the new ones.

Sorry ALL, forgot to add, the belts are marked with the 4007 and the newer 1002 numbers . Hopefully of assistance. The packaging also states 600/750 - 98(year) onwards.

Well I guess that is 100% proof that they are interchangeable.
It does make me even more curious as to why there are two different part numbers.
Are ducati just trying to mess with my head ???
I remember when I was very young, having this bizarre and nagging thought in the back of my mind that the whole world was just a big conspiracy and I was the only one who wasn't in on the act.
Ah well, at least I now know for certain that my belts are ok..........:dizzy:

Hi John,

The belts I got for the 695 last week were 737.1005.1A, noticed today that they're marked as "M750-SS750 '01" which was a bit concerning. I bought them from a Ducati dealership though, assuming the same part is just used on all the smaller Monsters.

After a bit of thought and a broken tensioner bolt I was getting them fitted by Ducati John at the weekend anyway, will check it with him first :) If they're ok that's 3 different part numbers...:eyepopping:
