Hi there,

I'm about to send all my bit away for powder coating, but I've got a problem! The rear wheel still has all its bushes in for the sprocket carrier (do these need to be removed because of the heat in the oven, or can the heat resistance tape be put over them?)

If they do need to be removed, how the hell do you get them out? also whats the easiest way to get the wheel bearings out?

Last problem is whats the easiest way to get the lower bearing off the lower steering stem?

cheers

The wheel bushes will probably be ok but I've always changed them when powder coating - they're a sh*t to get out sometimes though.

Wheel bearings need to be knocked out - if you look through the axle hole you'll see a small recess one side to get a drift into.

Warm the lower bearing up and it should come off

I'd whip all of it off the wheels mate, the heat will ruin them and if your going to all this effort whats a few new bearings and some new cush drives?? (he says laughing as all these little bits add up!!)

Bearings as ped says. For the cush drives it can be a nightmare, this is what i did, threaded bar with nuts on the back, jacked up with the car jack to put to tension on it to pull the inner bit out some and then heated the wheel with a blow lamp around it, then pop out they came!!

Worked well for me although you can rip the rubber out if you try and stretch it to far and then end up having to grind the outer metal bit out with a dremmel or something like that!!

If you need a hand give us a shout dude.

The rear bushes are fine mine went through twice no problems.

Lower head RGr use a large flat screwdriver and a hammer.

If the cush drives aren't broke I wouldn't bother. The powder coating didn't affect mine at all. And I had mine done twice now.......
