Well its official I guess I must be the shortest Monster rider .. or smallest legs for a monster rider possibly (In a clarkson voice) "In the wooooorrrrrrrllld"

I brought my M600 and went many miles to get him as he had been lowered on the shock and the seat.. great thought me .. asked for the height of bike all ok!
When I got on him couldn't really touch the ground...

So far I have a seat with no padding its like a wafer.. luckily well padded arse!!:yoparty:
Forks through yolk
Shorter shock..

The next phase was maybe hoop .. but the bikes already low.. I must get a photo of him next to a normal monster!
I have already dinged him on a speed bump.

I live on a hill on a corner with a crappy camber , also have to negotiate a step thing that is only on half of the step out.

In a nutshell to a shorty like me its like mission impossible.
By the time I get moving I am a wreck !

So today off to get one last opinion .. even though pretty impossible.

Firstly after scaring the poor chap with my rainbow gliiter ..

Turns out my shock has too much travel (bumper is not on my shock )
Also turns out my hoop is cut! But not in the usual place why is why I did not spot it its more towards the bottom rather the the bit further up on the straight with a rose joint

Anyway crux of it is.. the plan
1. tyre change .. 150 not 160
2. remove hugger
3. demolish the step of doom
4 live on 9p noondles .. sell my nice new Kreiga ruck sack :(
5. book him in for a week of surgery and measuring
6. prey he can be sorted but my shock is now iffy so new or rebuilt shock to be done

7 ... last chance saloon.... get exhaust made that gets rid of that header pipe and re-routes it.

Now I know what he has said about my shock is true and when my last Yamaha was lowered by a person that "Knew what he was doing ... ie pants the shock travelled up through my custom undertray. I had to get another shock which I did before I sold the yam.

The chaps I went to highly recommended and one chap had driven down from Scotland today to have his bike sorted!
He looked perplexed ...

Basically a lot of work.. a wad of cash but as its a safety issue its got to be done!!

Maybe it would be cheaper to move house ffs!!!

So the fun begins .. get tyre first ..

Oh hope my landlord is not a monster owner..
I have added bike parking in the garden...
took up all these terracotta tiles that where like an ice rink as I slipped and fell with my other bike.
and added ramps in ... my argument is its a good mod to be able to get all the wheelie bins out with ease or wheelchair access.

So also before I leave I have to make good as promised.
My house has been modified for Hector!! grrrrrr

My M 600 possibly the most expensive M 600 in the world with the shortest legged rider!

Any idea ball park figure a custom re route of my header pipes would be :(??????

So the lowered monster was not lowered properly ...
I have no foam in my seat I rely on bum padding but I am used to that!

I hate being short ... living on a hill .. and having the most stupidest inner legs :(

I was hoping for a cure..

Only other option is whip me up a rack and stretch my legs an inch!

But the header pipe thing may need to be looked at.

I swear he was laughing when he saw the olins sign .. and then heard a weeks holiday , and then heard custom exhaust...
Ive always got away with shorter twin shocks on bikes but the monoshocks are a mare!!!

He said oh my this bike has so many implications to him :(
Today I curse the monster.. and my genetics!!!!..

Seriously though Daytona make ladies boots with a 1" lift in the soles, not cheap but probably less than modifying the bike, look for Daytona Lady Star.

some custom bar risers to raise handlebars up and bring them back towards you. allows forks to come through yokes more and means you wont be leaning over the tank so much. this will allow you to get closer to the ground. also let me shorten the shock damper rod, you should be able to get it down another inch and a half :~) just avoid speed bumps

I forgot to add... I already am wearing ladystars!!!! :)

Its already grounded out on a speed bump :(
The header pipe is getting so low now...
I have to mod the exit to my house ! Steps got to go before I can do anything!!!!
Bar risers may be a good idea as well.

I need to use another shock to be honest because mine is not good.. the spring is going rusty and has no bump rubber so it won't stop travelling :( so if I hit a bump it will go through up into the bike.
Also they seemed worried about handling said it would handle like a pig with much more being done..
But got to sort it as its a tad dangerous with the shock travel like that.
Had same problem on the yam at 70mph!!! stayed on just but shock broke and undertray was wrecked, also hurt my back badly.
Whats the seat height on Sarah's now?

Then you'll need the boots in the link above, or get a mini-moto... ;)

I have a mini moto!! A monster one!
Joking aside I don't think I want boots that stacked it's easy to twist your ankle .
But a bit higher may be good .
I wear new rocks alot with a stacked sole so it could work!
Just finding someone to do it!

Forks through yolk

Me I hate it when that happens, dribbles out all over your plate, call me weird but I like to keep the yolk in one piece for a long as possible......

Looking at mine the front header could go higher, there's got to a good inch of space there.

That header pipe is a pain in the ..
I need it re routed but that's going to cost the earth!!

Maybe not Mel, have you got a powerflow exhaust maker any where near you. They make good inexpensive car exhausts from scratch, might be worth speaking to them if theres one close.
Stick with it kid , youve come to far to give up on "Glam" Hector now!

Only pain would be the spaghetti connector, it would need to go up by the same amount. Probably worth the effort to do loose that and have both pipes done.

Just a sideways thought and probably not affordable but .. You can only go so far with suspension before you start running into problems with the suspensions performance and handling.
So on a slight tangent anyone seen any smaller wheels? Kineo do some rather nice rims and the sports classics had spoked wheels (not the right size spindles though) that could have a smaller rim laced on. Then of course you get other problems like tyres but you shed an inch straight away.

Might end up cheaper to have your legs extended, you can get 2" max with a femoral extension and a further 2" from tibial extension. On the cheap just have one side done and just use that leg when riding :freak:

Jeez what a palarva, I have to hand it to you, that's commitment. Personally I couldnt be arsed to go through the mither of all that chopping and changing. I just buy a scooter instead.

Hee, hee.
Not for the first time, Nick, you've had me in stitches.

As for the wheels...at first sight a decent plan, but costly.
But, assuming min 16inch dia rims....thats only half an inch reduction from spindle to ground, so maybe a non-starter, considering the cost.
Then again, I wonder whether it would be worth considering changing the rear wheel on its own...? The front is easily lowered anyway, its the rear thats the problem, with the consequent reduction in suspension travel if the linkages are modded...but the smaller wheel avoids all that. Cheaper...but a mismatch of styles might look peculiar.
Also.....of little benefit, but no cost, you could think about a change in tyre profile at next tyre change. Actually, you may find that there's a small variation between manufacturers in tyres of the same stated profile, but you'd have to measure one (fitted) to spot it. (I came across this when considering a smaller front wheel for my dominator). It would be minimal, but would act on the wheel radius, so would all count towards lowering, at least.

I wouldn't recommend the single leg extension.....you'd spill your guinness.

Getting rid of the exhaust pipe is probably going to be a good solution, be caredful of the oil filter though or reroute it.

Your shock should not be compressing so much as to hit the bump stop.

Just discovered that USA model M600s are 35mm lower than european models.
Dunno how this is achieved, but if its via different suspension components, maybe USA parts could be used to lower a euro model ??

He11cat
29-03-2011, 12:41 PM
Thats quite a drop !

How come they get short bikes!! thought everything in the USA was sposed to be bigger and better !! Well thats what they tell us all the time yawn!!!... trust me I lived with that winge for years!!

I think I said one day well if everything is bigger and better in the USA then why don't you just f off back there ..... I wasn't being rascist or biggoted I was allowed to say that as you can when having a row with your then husband :) I got sick of .... you call that a steak... we have hamburgers bigger then that... you call that a... and it went on and on and on...... then you loose the will to live ...

I so wish I had said at bedtime you call that a ... we have things bigger then that on our English BBQ :)
But I wouldn't be so cruel... or evil.

Tried a stock bike today .. You know the put the blocks of wood under your boots till you can touch the ground???

How about it took 2 bricks under each ladystars raised boot to reach the ground!
I'd need 5 inch platforms!!! Il ring elton John up for a pair of his silver 70s glitter ones!!
I'm depressed!!!!

I like icon stuff ..
I've been out to MCT and they looked and even Darren shook his head said if I want it real low then a new exhaust needs to be made!
He's given me some stuff to try and then mct will have a bash at some point if I get half inch extra it has to be something!

Hi He11cat,

I feel you pain. I'm just starting out on my journey with my M600. How tall (short!) are you? I'm 4ft 11 ins and am struggling to get my Daisy to fit me. I'm getting her booked in at my local suspension specialist to have a custom shock made for her.

I also have Daytona Ladystars, but they only actually make a difference if you can get your heel down, as that is where the lift is!

Hope you managed to get your Duke sorted!
