I painted my frame by Hand last year in an effort to get the bike on the road before the end of Summer, however it now needs redoing properly and I have decided to powder coat it back to the original Gold, my question is does anyone know the official designation of the gold colour or know of a very similiar colour

No, but I would say 'champagne' (gold) is a very close match

I think its actually called bronze, rather than gold......I think.
My frame and wheels are that colour.
When I had a dinged rim straightened a while ago, I discovered that RS Paints do a whole range of colour matched paints, and their Ducati gold/bronze (?) is a pretty good match.
You might be able to get a paint code from them....off their website even, ...??

I have a paint code chart for 2003 models, I doubt the colours changed much from year to year, you can download it here; http://www.ducatisti.co.uk/forum/attachments/ducati-998/31748d1300399654-998-frame-paint-code-needed-ducati-paint-codes.doc

The gold Ducati used for frames did vary depending on year and model. The early 916 for example uses a dark matt gold finish, where as monster is a lighter shade and glossy. There's some colours listed here - if your German's any good..

The early gold is as near as damn it, an exact match for BSA gold. redditch shotblasting keep it in stock and are recommended.
