View Full Version : Ducati Aylesbury / On Yer Bike Open Day - Neighbouring Regions & Reps Please Read

Hi all,

I've been tentatively reaching out to various Ducati dealers over the past weeks to gauge our relationship and to try and get the club a little visibility with dealers... the view being to get our own events on their radar and vice versa...

The chaps at Ducati Aylesbury let me know they have an open weekend on the 16th & 17th April. It would be great if we can get a contingent of Monsters down there?

I'm pretty sure we haven't got that many active members immediately in Buckinghamshire, but it's not that far away from the more active Southern regions... a nice ride along avoiding the motorways, shop till you drop at On Yer Bike and a quick dash home wouldn't be too much out of the question... and would give the club some much needed visibility and perhaps get some new members from that area??

I was due to attend the Wirral Egg Run that weekend, but I'd be happy to come down to support this.

So, is there anyone else who'd be up for this?

good work, be good to have dealerships on side
ducati Aylesbury is pretty accessible from london and the surrounding areas and is my usual port fo call for demoing bikes (pointless demos from metropolis, have to pay £25 per bike and give it back before you get anywhere you can ride above 40mph)

i would like to come but i might have left for portimao by then, still finalsing dates so will let you know

I could very well make it, although the 16th is the Italian Day at Bristol, thats not bad for londoners, ride out to Ducati Aylesbury then onto Bristol??? Although i'm sure Sunday would be more realistic for me but will need to check

I was going to do the ride in from Gordano to the Bristol Italian Day on the 16th.
But the 17th sounds good, it would be a nice ride up from Bristol.

Jim, The same as Desmo for me. Bristol on the Saturday planned, but maybe Aylesbury on the Sunday?

At the moment Chris (the manager) and myself are talking of having a Monster Day at DucatiManchester in a few weeks time, I've already contacted Rob to make sure its OK to post on our forum so just have patience.
We had a classic open day last december which was very well attended, blimey I even spotted a couple of UKMOC members.

Hi Jim, 17th will be my birthday, sounds like an interesting way of spending the day :) I'll have to let you know nearer the time, might see if I can get Sam interested too - I'm assuming it's not a strictly Ducati event?

Count me out Jim, I'll be participating in the Egg Run on the 17th April + will join Buzzbomb for the open day @ MCR when Geoff & Chris get it arranged. Bristol is too far I think, even though I may have somewhere to stay on the Friday night. Work is mad busy with various projects on the go so have to fit things in around it.

Have a good'n. :D

I would propose we meet at Chieveley services on the M4 / A34 junction, so a simple case of the Hants heading north and the Wilts east. A nice simple ride up the A34 for a large group or a better route up the A338 if desired! What time do we think then and is the above okay?

Try the Total service station near Bicester Jim on the A41 just after you cross the M40. Its near to the Bicester Village Outlet Centre. Yet to find a postcode

LouSCannon
12-04-2011, 09:32 AM
As Stafford has kindly pointed out, I messed up on Google maps and the above postcode is pretty far out and the wrong side of Aylesbury from the dealers to manager getting 20 odd bikes down.

Bicester Services, Oxford Rd
Bicester OX26 1BT

Correctly looking on Google Maps shows an Esso station on a roundabout, 9 miles from the store straight down the A41.... again, 11:30 to get to the shop for 12... ignore my last stupid mistaken post!

Great to meet up with everyone again, good company as always.
Even the weather was brill.
Good ride home, Roz & Lee enjoyed themselves & grabbed a couple of bargain T' Shirts.
A round trip for us of 170 miles.

Roll on the next event / meet.

Aye, a goodly day out indeed - even if a dodgy sparkplug almost scuppered it before I left home.....

Cheers all......

Thanks to Liz and Stafford for putting me up last night - what a great fun evening, including the bopping!! Great to see so many of the team, I too got a tee shirt bargain! Had a slight mishap on my way home - got pulled over by a speeding Fireblade rider, frantically gesticulating at me. I pulled over on the A34, as he did to find that both my seat cowl bolts had long departed and my seat cowl was hanging on with less than seconds to it's life. Luckily my backpack came in good use again and we're all home in one piece. Aren't fellow bikers just the very best? Thanks for a yet another great day again. Cheers Gutsy

Jim was playing chaufeur to Paolo and arrived a little later than the rest of us.

An wasn't Paolo a small bloke, how the hell does he get his feet down on his Multistrada ?
