I had a problem with my 2002 S4 cutting out at any revs, any speed, totally random.:mad:
Flicking the engine run switch, and or the key ususlly resolved the problem and the bike started again.
Problem was the engine run/stop switch. The small ball and spring inside the switch were slightly rusty, causing the intermittent cut off. Vibration was enough to loose contact, and then operating the run switch was enough to cure the fault.
Remedy by stripping the switch,cleaning the ball, spring and contact plate with emery paper. I then slightly streched the spring to give a little more force on the contacts.
This fault was a nightmare to find, I hope this gives anyone else with a similar problem and easier life! cant wait for better weather to get a good run now.
