Hello,
Gotta be honest I feel like a right fake at the moment as I actually live in the glorious environs of Wigan (I'm only in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands working....oilpatch trash I'm afraid) and I don't even own a Ducati.....yet.
Over the years I've stuck mainly to Yamaha dirtbikes and the now ubiquitous BMW GS range.
I'm still enjoying riding my F800GS BMW but it feels like time for a change and I've always thought there is no better looking bike on the road than the Monster.
So hopefully over the next few months I'll be getting my arse into gear to swap saddles and see what the scoop is.
Carl

Well a warm welcome anyway.
Have you thought about what Monster you might like ?

Hello and welcome to the site.
Its a good place to start and get any info you may need/want before you get your 1st Monster.
I love the air cooled 900m but I am sure the S4 water cooled peeps will be along soon.
Any ideas on what model/engine type you are looking for yet.

J.P, scrapps, thanks for the welcome.
I'm looking at the 796 (although I think lusting would be a more appropriate word).
I'll be back in good old blighty early in March so I've booked a test ride at Wyder Motorcycles in Preston.
I was speaking to another dealer earlier and he sez if you are comfortable on bikes then go straight for the 1100. Well I reckon I've had one of the lardiest two wheeled machines available in the form of the BMW 1200 GSA and although there's no possible comparison to be drawn between my beloved lardy 1200 GSA and an 1100 Evo, I'm just looking for a totally different riding experience. The 796 pushes my buttons big time on an aesthetic level so I'm really looking forward to throwing my leg over it and seeing what it rides like.

Well the lightness of the new Monsters will certainly be a welcome change for you.
Definitely try the 796 and the 1100 so you can make the proper comparison.
The 1100 is slightly taller.

Hi and welcome, keep us informed with your progress, there are a couple of members here which have got the 796 and they're really happy with it. Me, I'd go for the 1100 just for the clutch rattle..;)

Yeh, I'm really looking forward to trying them both out. I'll definately drop a line as to how it goes.

I've just had to look at Google Maps to find where the Nicobar Islands are.
Just South of the Watford Gap.

Hi, and welcome!

I think either the 796 or the 1100 would be so completely different from the GS that you would love them both. As said, the main differences are the clutch, a bit of power, seat height... maybe you need to ride both as they're actually quite different! :mand:
