View Full Version : Hugger for M1100

Having recently ridden my M1100 on damp roads and found that after 30 miles the whole rear end of the bike and my back was covered in dirt which had sprayed up from the rear wheel I have concluded that the hugger is more for looks than function, although it does keep the shock reasonably clean. If I had been riding with a pillion they'd have got rather dirty.

So my question is, does anybody know of a replacement hugger for an M1100 which provides more protection than the standard hugger?

Just seen this thread - that is exactly what I have found with my 696 - a generally lovely looking bike but it has a dirty backside!!! :o

Mrs JerryT discovered her leathers were a just a tad damp and muddy after a similar ride to yours...

Perhaps the equivalent of a front fender extenda is required? See recent thread started by Banus. Something that works without destroying the bike's looks would be just the ticket.

:wallace: Get the tea on, Gromit old chap, it's time we invented something...

Same here on my M110 :wallace:

Also could really use some grab rails that don't spoil it's look as well .... :on:

some ::HERE:: (http://www.spareshack.com/cat/99/Carbon-Fibre-and-Bodywork.php) but no dimensions.

My flat mate can get ABS plastic vacuum moulded. All I would need to do is create the original part for mould to be made from. I think I'd start with the original hugger and modify it with modelling clay or such like. However I think we'd need to do some analysis about where the dirt is being sprayed from to establish the required hugger shape. If anyone has a super slow motion camera and a section of road that we can cover with milky water (it shows up better on film than clear water - old Hollywood film trick for making rain show up well on camera) then we might be able to analyse exactly how the rear end of a Monster gets so dirty so quickly.

Am I taking this too far? Should I just put up with having to clean my clothes after riding in the wet?
