As some of you will know I have just become the proud owner of a S2R 1000.:D:D It had been sitting in a garage for about 8 months before I brought it back to life. On Friday I took the day off work so I could give her a service etc and ready for a ride out hopefully soon. I have a M600 which currently and I have completed a full strip down and rebuild, as the S2R is and newer bike I was really nervous about changing the timing belt on my own. Anyway after reading material watching it being done on you tube and speaking to various people I decided I should go for it.
I always get my parts from Rosso's and on Friday I was speaking to Ray and Marcus who was really helpful, they took the time out to explain how to change the belts. They must have noticed my puzzled face and the nervousness that I had about attempting this. Ray offered to lend me some tools that lock the crank and cams so I could not go wrong, and again explained the process in detail. Ray also dug out old heads and cranks etc to show me how to line up the marks in relation to the casings.
I came home and recalling all the information Ray/Marcus told me, attempted the changing of the belts and to my surprise it went amazing easy, with their special tools and explanation it really was straight forward.
I thought I would post this as it's not often that you get a specialist that helps you out so much that goes the extra mile especially as I do all my own services and works to the bikes and only get parts from them. This is not the first time either; Marcus also talked me through how to do the fork seal over the phone on my other monster.
Help like this is almost non existence these days so a big thank you to Ray and Marcus at Rosso's, most helpful people, thank you.
P.S. Ray/Marcus if you read this I will be down as soon as the bike is registered to show you my new toy. Thank you again very much appreciated.:thumbsup:
