Got rid of the only part of the bike I disliked today, yep that ugly beer shelf. I bought a tail tidy from ducatimonstertailchop.com and the service from them was great. There was a problem with my Paypal account but Ty responded to my emails immediately and the problem was sorted. The product arrived within a week (I live in France) and just like it said on the box, it only took 15 minutes to install. I know it's subjective and some don't like the chopped look but I love it. I'm also aware that I might get a bit wetter than usual sometimes (I have chopped the tail on other bikes) but I don't care, if I did I would be driving a car! I LOVE it.
I also bypassed the 'safety' switch that cuts the ignition when the side stand is down. I can now warm up the bike without having to sit on it.

Neat job

Check the clearance for numberplate on full bounce. If set too low it'll catch the tyre and the plate will be history, possibly taking the hugger & bracket you just fitted with it.

I speak from personal experience by the way... oh how I laughed.. not

Thanks. Sorry to hear of your experience, I'll double check the clearance.

Is that your trike?

wow, this is neat. And are those the original indicators? I must look at that chop kit again.

I'm 22 and my dad is one of these, keep the bike as it is boy, it'll be worth something down the line when it becomes a classic. lol Strange thing is, my older brother had a monster a few years ago and what did he do >>>>> hacksaw. The joys of being born first I guess. Here was his bike.

Thanks. Yes those are the original indicators but I will eventually change them for smaller clear ones. The funny thing is Steve that I'm almost certainly older than your dad but I wouldn't dream of leaving any bike 'as it is'. I love to personalize. If you like the look do it, it really is very easy.

That was a nice bike your brother had (good pic too).

The link needs to be a link to just the pic (usually a .jpg file), not the page that it's on.

If you click on 'quote' on my post with your pic in it, you will see in the quoted text exactly how it needs to look.

No there's not many about, although I've seen a couple of monster's triked since I built mine. Ducati say that 60,000 people attended WDW 2010.. mine was the only 3 wheeler at Misano

Very nice.
I would chop but have hi level Carbon Ducati performance pipes. Some would call it the wheel barrow look so want to stay away from that as I could'nt put the neighbours through it being any louder than it is by lopping 4" off the pipes!

That's why I keep my db killers in. It sounds pretty good with, awesome without, but I'm surrounded by small villages and generally people are very bike friendly here so I don't want to upset them too much.

Am I correct in saying high levels are quieter than low levels due to the extra pipe up to the end can? I have high level titanium termis marked race use only. I was using standard cans before them but I did the cored-out mod to them and I think they sounded better at higher rpm. My termis seem to lose their deeper tone at higher rpm. Maybe it's just me.

Maybe, its the start up and tickover.
Like Paulel said, I too have lovely neighbours in a quiet village and cul-de-sac.

Would love to do it but..........
Can't bring myself to shorten the cans. If I did - not 100% sure on procedure.
Internal baffles, extra wadding...... bla bla bla

I much prefer the tail chopped look, so when the weather gets a bit better (No garage:thumbsdown: ) mine will be having the chop.
I'll keep all the parts though and make up some steel tubes so that it could be reversed if needed.
Does anyone have a design for a tailchop bracket that incorporates the indicator mounts and numberplate light????

Regarding the so called reversible tail chop, I didn't see any disconnection or re-connection of lights/indicators. Anyway who would want to put that ugly bit back on after taking it off!!!! It looks like a duck bill platypus from the rear. Just my opinion of course.

Is that a lurcher in your pic, doing the 'tongue up the nostril' bullock impression ?
Had a few myself (lurchers that is, not tongues up the nostril...it doesn't reach) !!!
Lovely dogs.

Yes that is a lurcher. I think he was just trying to get a fly or something from his nose as I took the photo. Yes they are lovely dogs. I have another, you can see them here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/57847684@N07/
