Spotted one of these recently - never seen one before.

Anyone got any experience of these?

TRX was Yamahas version of the 900SS if you like, not a bad bike once the suspension is sorted - even uses the same carbs as Dukes. It uses a parallel twin motor with a 270 degree crank to make it feel like a V - the current TDM uses the same motor.

TRX has quite a good following

I did a race school type of thing on one at Cadwell, they used these before the company then used 748s to become 'the Ducati experience'.
I liked it and would have seriously considered buying one but I never came across one when I was in the market with wads of money.

wasn't it the same engine as the tdm? the tdm being the 'off roady' version?

apparantly one hell of a good motor

sound great with loud pipes

unfortunately like a lot of things yamaha do, great ideas but miss the market by a country mile

fortunately for yamaha when they get it right they get it very right RD350, R1 & R6 being prime examples

I've had 3. Great bikes, lots of character. Not a patch on the S4 in any department.

Mad parallel twin engine, same as the TDM but with an offest crank to give uneven. 5v per cylinder and dry sumped. Mental design. However, the carbs were garbage. Go like stink with Keihin FCR's apparently.

Was my first bike, crashed it at the IOM TT, rebuilt it into this one. Bought another one to fix up which hadn't been looked after. Had the crank reground and new oil pumps (£300!!) but something went wrogn and it stripped the drive teeth for the cam chain off the crank so I got sick and sold it.

Here's my final one, a bit of a mongrel/hybrid, hope you like. I used the engine out of the crashed one, but that blew up after 6 months. Replaced with an engine off a jap import. Sold to buy the Monster.
