Any recommendations for a good battery charger/conditioner for keeping the Monster's (and wife's 125) battery in good shape over the winter? Any to avoid? cheers guys.

Ctek XS3600 is the one to go for. Similar money to the Optimate, but better quality and a better charger.

I use the Acumen Duo Charger for my two - it can monitor and charge two bikes

At those prices I'll just wait for spring, then buy a new battery!

J&S Accessories battery optimiser - £19.99 each plus 4 quid post. If you are doing mail order and buying several phone their mail order folk and see if you can haggle free post or something...
It is just like* the old Oxford Oximiser, uses the same accessories/plugs, and does what it says on the box.
I have an Optimate IIIsp, an Oxford Maximiser, and a J&S optimiser. All do the same job with no issues.

I've used an Optimate for as long as I can remember.

Have fitted 'phone-type' sockets to all bikes - wired, through a fuse, to the battery.

That way I can plug in as easily as charging a phone and it also doubles up as a power socket if I should ever need one when out (such as for charging a phone etc).

Bikes connected whenever in the garage, never had a problem with not starting and batteries last for ages.

That's how I discovered the CTEK, as my Opmtimate wouldn't charge a battery but a CTEK would.

The trick is to use the optimate enough to not let them get flat in the first place

Although I hear you can kick start a really flat battery with a car charger

You can charge a flat battery with an Optimate by connecting another (good) battery in paralell, that way the Optimate senses the power in the good battery and then gives sufficient current to charge both. Once the flat battery has enough charge to register connect it by itself. ;)

Jerry, try this. Its a bit pricy but does the double charging mullarkey for you. They also do a Pro 8 but thats serious workshop only equipment unless you have wedges of cash and 8 bikes to keep charged?! :D

I discovered Ctek through this site (i think it was Glips) last year when another member asked for help and at the time I was looking for a new charger. I've used an optimate for years which was perfect for my bikes but it wasn't man enough for the van and the Ctek fitted the bill, I also think that the connectors are better on the Ctek...
