Kato I just seen a bike with the same tank you have.

I was always thinking it was custom job on your front. So where did you get it? Or is that second one a copy?

The one in the photo's is a Road Racing aluminium tank. RR were a parts factory in Italy that did some tasty bits for monsters, but they sadly went out of business a while ago.

As GT and uksurfer said its a Road Racing one, as is the one pictured on the ISR bike mine is the only one I've ever seen in the UK and I found it by accident, last one I know of sold for $1500 so if you do find one expect a heavy price tag

They were seriously unreliable and went bust about three times before finally shutting the door around 2006

They are rare in the UK but I know two members that had one - Skank and Stuart. I thought PD had one as well, but now realise Kylie had the 'cafe monster' version. We also spotted a few at bigger Ducati/monster meets - MOB and WDW for example.

Capacity is about the same but the weight is less than half the standard tank

I had the small belly pan like PD.s picture on my s4 when I got it and the Alien fairing. Fairings are not as rare as the tanks though but still you dont see many for sale. Some people may even hoard them :chuckle::p:p

How hard would it be to replicate the top part of your tank? I was thinking having it, also making small holes in replacement plastic tank and fitting oil and engine temp gauges in there where you have your mesh.

There is a company in Japan that makes aluminium tanks for Monsters. Not cheap

Think it was either 2005 or 2006.Looks like it was when we had the invasion from Nonnie and others. Think thats Scrumpsters 600 there too.

Love the tank,....actually the shape is different to the original...its cut away where it joins the seat, exposing more of the vertical belt run. Looks much better that way.

Ok, so I was going to keep this quiet to avoid the rush, but my plans have changed cos I need a steel tank so I can use a magnetic tankbag....There is a british company, based in Dumfries, think they're called 'The tank shop'. They're about to go into production of alloy tanks for old-type, carbed monsters. Should be happening around march time. About £550, I was told.
Don't all rush at once.

Paint on an alloy tank looks so good, don't you think ?
Real shame about the magnets.

Do you have any pics or could send me a link...
I have 2 cunning plans (I don't use tank bags!) but involves eating 8p spaghetti hoops for a while :(

I got a complete catalogue for Road Racing from the previous owner when I brought my monster, so much stuff I would have brought if they had still been in business :-(

Yeah, you did mention about the tankbag thing.
It conjured the odd image.......

Can't find any details of the monster tank on their website. I got my info by phoning them....01387 740 259. The Tank Shop, Dumfries.
They're saying 20wks turnaround time, so plenty of time to start saving up.

You're better off with beans rather than spaghetti hoops, particularly on toast.....better protein balance that way cos the essential amino acids are complimentary....I kid you not.

ps my new steel tank just arrived.
Box said "this way up" in big letters.
Why ? ......still had fuel in it !!!
Wonder if the delivery guy was a smoker ?

Can I have the petrol if you do not want it? With current prices I might result to begging.

BTW in case of alloy tank, I seen CF covers for monster tanks that have a CF stripe from where seats join the tank (where you would have tank protector) ging all the way up, getting wider at the top. Just so it can go arround the fuel tap, then it stays like that to go around where there is the tank latch. Get a alloy tank and get someone with CF skills to fabricate such mentioned stripe but to put steel inserts in correct places.
