I had difficulty in figuring out where best to put the tax disc on a new Monster 696. Decided to go for attaching it to the exhaust fitting under the seat. Attached a picture in case anyone else has the same issue.

I've found that the wallet is a suitable place, keeps it warm too :)

Yes, same here, that's where mine is - it's now saturated after a couple of hours riding in the wet yesterday. Hmmmmm. What's the answer?

Mine is fixed to the bolt hole that's meant to hold the underseat storage lid in place. It's on the bike but only available on request.

Yes, but it saves me carrying it when i'm not on the bike and it'll never be forgotten at home. :D

Mines in the same place too. You need to buy a good waterproof one or get an oberon tube type or keep it in your wallet else dont ride in the rain.

you can still get a ticket for not displaying one

and if they can't pin anything else on you some jobsworth will issue a ticket to reach his daily quota

have learnt this lesson the hard way

Yup but never have yet, and when I go out I'm usually parked at mates, in car parks of pubs, cafe's etc. very rarely on the road.

I looked all over the bike some years ago and couldn't find a single bolt I could use to hold the disc in place, so stopped looking.

I have a dark tinted screen on my bike and I recently found that a 99p, clear (both sides), stick-on disc holder on the inside of the screen cannot be seen on the outside, through the tint.
Its a bit in your face from the saddle, though its down behind the clocks a bit, but it doesn't show much at all apart from that.
Probably not hugely secure, but most other holders aren't either.
And there's a possibility that the glue might degrade the screen, I suppose.
Is it a huge deal (personally speaking) if it gets nicked anyway? I'm not sure what the implications for the owner actually are (other than failing to display a tax disc, that is).

Spot on.... there is a specific offence for failing to display a road tax licence. Even if your bike is taxed you have to display it - by the letter of the law anyway.

Front nearside is where I've just moved mine from.
It's still at the front, but slightly to the offside of dead centre, and faces slightly toward the nearside, but mostly backwards. :dizzy:

New monsters have very few mount points on the front unless you start taking the brake caliper bolts off or the forks. Dont think so. Its staying at the back where the dealer put it. Also my cause a injury to a pedestrian in an accident and we dont want that do we,:look::look:

not sure of the legality but know someone who took colour photocopy of tax disk and mounted it in on of these - after all you can still keep the original in your wallet

http://www.worldofpower.co.uk/p2703.aspx - its all on computer now anyway

thats not legal im afraid. its like photocopying money.. you may still have the original but its illegal duplication.

And it used to be "on the nearside, ahead of the seat nose", not sure if this is still the case but they tend not to change these old things very often.

Cheers
