My stupid brother did a chain clean on his Yamaha fs1eDX the lazy way. Mainstand in gear and a oily cloth. Didnt lose his finger due to chain was slack enough to allow the bone in his finger to pass between the chain and sprocket. It is angled, scarred and a lesson learnt.

Wont look at link as I hate blood and you didnt like it.

Was his chain of thought... (sotty, no pun intended)

"hmmm, where's the rag..."

"arrrgggghhhhhhh..."

"badage and pressure to the affected area, quick... hang on a minute, before I stem the collosal bleeding, where's my camera..."

I have always oiled the chain with the bike running on a stand, Mmmm maybe I will rethink that strategy for the future! :o

I suppose he should get a little credit for posting it as a warning tho'.
He's lucky it wasn't worse I suppose. That's the kind of DIY that could have got him a Darwin award... :eyepopping:

As an innocent child, I thought it was amazing how my Dad could put almost all of his index finger up his nose. This was his party piece. It wasn't until I was a bit older did I realise that he could only do this as he had half a finger? He lost it whilst helping his Mum wipe fluff from the washing mangle, WHILST it was turning. His finger ended up going through the gearing and it sliced it right off! And for his trouble, he got a seeing to from his Mum because the washing had to be re-done as it was covered in blood...
