Good morning people,

Looking at returning to Ducatis and i,m pondering a S4/S4R.
Can anyone tell me what sort of range i,d get on a tank of fuel.
Had a Harley Vrod and had to fill up every 85-90 miles which is a bit of a pain when you are touring.
I don,t expect it would be much more but would be interested all the same.
Thanks...Kev

i have to fill up before 100 miles -

but dont let that put you off - they are worth every fuel stop

A lot depends on how it's ridden

I think J.P. struggles to get more than 85 to reserve in 'attack' mode

They will do over 50 to the gallon when in m/way cruising @ 85 but go int play mode and panic light will illuminate.

I commute and get 65-70 miles before the fuel light comes on. If I'm out on a long run fuel light comes on at about 120-130. It doesn't like town much!

Not an S4, but definitely a good description of the light on my S2R! I've had to push twice I think after not listening to the warning light! Now... I panic as soon a I see it!

100ish is probably about right across the S2R/S4 range I think, but it can be difficult to trust the low fuel light sometimes

, but it can be difficult to trust the low fuel light sometimes

Especially on my bike or 'mybike' as I like to call him - as the light is always on (however I feel if this is the only thing wrong with mybike then best to leave well alone, as I feel if I fix it something worse will go wrong - I just have to remember to reset the milage clock when I fill up - no doubt I will post my exploits when I first forget to do this)

On regular 20 mile commute with varied town and dual carriageway journey the fuel light comes on around 95 -100. The few times I have run to about 120 miles the bike started cutting out between 110 - 120. Filled up and all was well.

Tracking the S4R Testastretta engine does about 75 miles.
Road riding will happily see 100 miles if I'm not to bad with the throttle.
Longest I've ever been was 119.2 miles and the take was empty.

I have run out of fuel once, and on filling up it only took 12 litres, even though the tank is 14 litres, so basically 2 litres sloshes around in the pipes. So if you're calculating a journey use 12 litres as your limit.

I get 22 to the gallon on the track :( and I thnk I got about 85ish to the tank when it was on the road.

with a dp air filter, pc3 and arrows exhaust system.

I can get as little as 70 before the light comes on when playing with it, or as much as 120 when on a run with the group or long straight runs at a constant speed.
As said before though, the original brochure says 14 litres (of which 3 is reserve) so if the light comes on at 3 litres left, it is still doing 30 mpg at worst and 50 mpg at best. Can't compain at that with the fun it gives you. :)

Travelling all over thailand i have managed 130miles to nearly empty can easily do 120miles on a full tank with lots of high speed running .

As many have said, it depends how they're thrashed - sorry, ridden :)

However, once the light is on I tend to ride it fairly gently, as I know it only runs for 15 miles on the light. Ask me how I know this? :(

Twice I've filled her up and got 14.8 and 14.9 litres into the 15 litre tank! I'm getting too old to push motorcycles around, despite plying it with lots of carbon it's still bloody heavy when empty

From a full tank my S4 will get:

London Riding - 55 - 60 miles

Country Roads (fast-ish) - 80 - 90 odd

Motorway - 110 – 120

... I completely agree they don't like the city. :(
