I have recieved this by email, so thought i would give you all the heads up for next Mothering Sunday, it was a great turnout this year for a very worthy cause, and hope we can do similar next year.
Registration opening soon

Wotton Bassett - Mothers Day Ride (The ride of Respect) 2011
We have been inundated with emails and calls, asking when registration will open, hopefully this will clarify, albeit an exact date is still unknown. Here we go again its edging nearer to registration for the Mothers Day Ride, which will be re-branded the "Ride of Respect". Registration as we have said will open this month, probably towards the end, however we can now confirm that the donation price will be £10 per bike, to include where appropriate a pillion passenger. We know that the police will try and call registration, so keep an eye on our site from Monday 25th October onwards, let's make it as big as we possibly can.

Bleeding silly name that's more appropriate for Harley riders or rappers, and the fee has doubled. Are we seen as a nice little earner as a fiver seemed about right to me?
Might not bother this time.

Hi, Went last year and it was good if a little chaotic.

I don,t mind paying £10 seems a small price to pay to show support to our troops, after all the Government does nothing for them.
Can,t really see why £10 bothers people.
I was in the Marines and went to the Falklands for the conflict down there. It would have been great if this sort of thing was around then.
Tell someone who,s lost a limb or a loved one that £10 is too much..

Not a rant!!

Make that £20 due to increased costs and a lower number of attendees 2000 at the time of writing.

The date is APRIL 3rd 2011

Please note that the site is now open for registrations for this event. It is limited to 9800 bikes at a cost of £10 per person. ie. £20 only if you are taking a pillion. You can register at
http://afghanheroes.org.uk/homepage.asp

I would suggest this is a fair contribution to our serving soilders in Afghanistan and it would be good to know who is going on it and at what time slot. I have started a list here for people who do/have already registered to put thier names on to it: -

We will try to find a convenient meet point nearer the time to ride in together.

More information here, last years thread really says it all, and how emotional the day was for those who made it.

Rally - I vote for your bacon butties at the airfield, carried as precious cargo! Otherwise what time is brekkie at yours before you head off? Sounds like a good plan, either way.

It is 30 minutes from mine to the airfield, so it would need to be by 8am at the latest if done BEFORE the event, peoples thoughts please?

Just a few pictures from today. A great day with lovely weather and much better organisation too. A very emotional day at times and it's great to have this opportunity to show our respect not just to our troops, but also the people of Royal Wootten Bassett. Thanks to all that showed their support.

Didn't buy tickets, but always fully intended to donate without costing anymore to the overheads.
