The Michelin Pilot Power is now called the Pilot Power 2CT. I had one fitted yesterday at the cost of £130 all inclusive.
Tommy Bridewell of British Superbike fame on 01380 860272. Devizes, Wiltshire.

It may be useful even if only for bartering with?

wow, is that for a pair or just for the rear? I wouldn't mind getting a pair at that price! :woot:

I will stick to my Maxxis, below £200 fitted for pair and I like them very much.

Yantheman, That is for a 180/55-17 rear only. The 120/60-17 front is normally £90 all in.

Did they take your old tyre in px?

The Michelin Pilot Power is now called the Pilot Power 2CT...

Pilot Power has been superceded by the Pilot Power 2CT but they are different tyres as the oringinal was single compound.

Pilot Road and Pilot Road 2CT are a different tyre, more road/touring oriented than sport/trackday.

The 2CT just refers to dual compound, where fronts have a medium centre and soft shoulders, the rears have hard centre with medium shoulders.

This gives a better combination of grip and longevity.

I had pilot road (now have a gp racer on the rear though due to a nail at Cadwell, so I'm a little mis-matched!! :running:)

I paid £250 all in from Watling Tyres in Catford, so the price you've been quoted seems fair. They're not cheap tyres, but I'm happy with them, I'll be putting the rear back on now it's repaired, and they seem to be lasting well.

What after the burnout session! I don't think it had any value left in it. But yes, they did dispose of it for me. :)

I knew it couldn't be that cheap, too good to be true :chuckle:

In that case if anyone is interested can try Burwin on Essex road London. I was quoted £225 for the pair 120-160(including fitting and VAT) a few weeks ago. Been thinking to try Michelin for a while.

I love the Michelins, wouldn't go anywhere else now. Funnily enough, they had to order them in for me as they are not as popular these days. I take them right to the edge, trust in them and know how they ride, which is why I stick with them.

I did try some Pirellis and Avons a few years ago after reading a write up in 'Bike' magazine, but didn't like either as much as the Michelins.

I know others feel differently though?

Might not be any use to you, but others in London may get some use from this...

I get tyres from Ed at Universal tyres in Dartford. He is at the Universal tyres warehouse - Unfortunately they don't fit tyres, but he usually does a good deal compared to retail outlets.

Bridgestone BT-016's for me. I've had the michelins and the pirellis and have to say that the michelins lasted really well, the diablos lasted about 5 minutes and got really bad for grip as they wore. I've had the bridgestones fitted for about a month now - I've racked up a couple of thou miles and they've been fantastic both in the dry and the wet.

I'm tempted to try BT-016. I used to use single compound BT-010 front(softer)/BT-020 rear(harder). BT-014 was the best of both worlds with 2 compunds and very confidence inspiring in the wet. I switched to Pilot Powers and then the 2CT version and have had no problems. The BT-016 is a three compound tyre, so interesting to see how they wear as time goes on.

BT-023 on mine and I have to say I've never felt so confident.

Quite a differance from the Conti Road attacks I had on.

I'm trying out the new Bridgestone Bt023s on the monster.

So far i'm impressed with them in the wet and dry, they were even quite good on the loose chippings that the council seem to be spreading over surrey at present !

Got mine from Universal tyres in staines, theyre usually competitive and charged me £215 for the pair fitted to loose wheels.
