How quick or what time could you get to Andover for, straight up the A303? We were planning on meeting there for 10am, is that possible for you?

Char

We will meet at the Shell filling station next to the roundabout where the A303 joins the A342. It is the one with all the road works around it and the next junction after the Hawk Conservancy place. Take the 3rd exit off the roundabout and head towards the town. It is 50 metres from the roundabout.

See you there.

I posted off SAE for a pass on saturday 14th, but have not yet got anything in return

Cutting it fine for Sunday - hope I didn't waste a couple of 1st class stamps. I'm not registered on Ducatisti can someone give Dementor a nudge for me?

I've emailed D*ick Richardson at Popham and he said all passes requested were sent out

Mine may have got held up by Royal Mail, but if it doesn't turn up he'll leave my name with gate security so I should still get in for free. If my pass doesn't get here in time I may still take you up on the offer Alan.

Cheers all

P.S. I can't beleive the site's swear filter blocks the word D*ick - it's a name FFS

Current forecast for the airfield is dry in the morning & possible damp later, tho its changing all the time.
Suggest you lob the postcode SO21 3BD into something like metcheck tomorrow morning before setting out........
We've decided against taking the caravan down this afternoon, might load the van later tonight depending on the forecast in about 2 hours time.....

Gates open at 10am. It's 85 miles and guess 1 1/2hours ride to get there from here?

I would aim to leave at 9.30 aiming to arrive by 11am, but if Albie's bike is due for a display stand he might have to leave earlier. I'll be riding round the M25 so maybe clacketts is a good meet point on route. Either way I'll wait to see what it's like in the morning, and if really wet will give it a miss. I've got other stuff I'd prefer to do tomorrow rather than ride 170 miles in the rain.

Current Sunday forecast for Popham is cloudy all day, and intermittant light rain from 10am until 4pm

Hi all

weather at the moment in Andover, 12 miles from Popham, is overcast but no rain. BBC reckon after 10am until 1600 will be sunny intervals but no rain.

So come on and dig those bikes out, that means you Martin( Hampshire's finest Rep, just so long as my bike doesn't get dirty).

See you all soon?

Cheers Stu,
I can also say that anyone coming from the west of it, the roads have a bit of overnight moisture on them but the sky is clear and looking brighter than the forecast would have you believe. This is also the direction the weather is coming from and heading to Popham.

DONT FORGET THOSE STAND PUCKS THOUGH!

See you all there.

CK & AK
22-08-2010, 07:36 AM
Remember, if you have a pass & are on a Ducati, you will be directed through right up to the Ducati parking area in the main part of the event by a huge marquee - they WILL have pucks there for you.
The ground holds up well there too whatever the weather.

Well another year of the Popham Megameet, a fantastic turnout (although not Ducatis!) a BIG thanks to the UKMOC who did support the event, to **** for the free passes, For PeteB,Psychlist & Michael for their bikes and W M Snell for their usual display of new Ducatis. ....and it stayed dry all day!

Great to see Mav and Sue all the way from the Midlands.

Big up to Red Leader (Kev) who camped on Saturday night.

Good to see Steve & Shell with the boys.

A real shame the "New" DSC didn't support it! (and that it clashed with DD)

Had a great day out guys and thanks to all those who organised the meet.My third time at popham in the 6 years of monstership.
Great turn out and admitting I never thought I was going to go but GT's call made me think we should at least make an attempt. 190 miles round trip was indeed boring but worth it. Got a shower on way home but not at all drenched but had bad visibility on final stretch up m25.

I seem to have lost my reflector hanger on way down so a new one needed.

Some nice bikes down there indeed.

Hey, great day out - gradually starting to put some faces / names together.

I'll stick a couple of pics up later trying not to repeat those already posted.

Looking forward to getting out a bit more as parental duties decrease over the next few months!!!

Think I was talking to Stuart at the end of the day - just to repeat, as a newbie it's great just how laid back and approachable everyone on here is. I've tied in with a lot of web based groups clubs before usually to find ego's and cliques are the norm - not a trace of that with UKMOC!!

So again thanks for the advice / welcome and general friendliness etc.....

Gordon,
It is always nice to see new faces and us now not so new ones can release the mantle of being the newest newbie! When I first joined in the Spring, I knew no one and I have never been made to feel so welcome in any club before. It would make me stick with the Monster brand in fear of losing the new friends I have made. The more the merrier is what I say. You will also find how helpful people are if you have a problem or need a hand. Good to see you enjoyed it and look forward to meeting up again soon.

just got to extend Gordon H's sentiment and say thanks to firstly Ducastisti for the pitch and free pass. I arrived late, half way through the afternoon, such that people were leaving. All the photos were done, my SS has not been caught by anyone.

Very friendly bunch though I only had a fleeting chance to say hi to Chris Y, UKsurfer, Rally and Gutsy. Thanks for the chat and your bikes are way cooooooooooool. I like!

Gutsey - see ya next with the termis fitted.

Truth be told, I didn't know what to expect of the Popham extravaganza. Suffice to say next year I'll be bringing the family. I didn't leave time enough to say hi properly as got interested int he next pitch the Velocette club. Soooo much to see and talk of. And the vintage stuff it he marque was incredible.

Hope to catch up with you MOC soon on another local run/event. For now, thanks, impressed at ya.

Good crowd - I thought I was the newbie, only the second trip out with the MOB - feel like I've know some of them half my life (about 10 years) and I'm an antisocial bitch at the best of times :nash:

just got to extend Gordon H's sentiment and say thanks to firstly Ducastisti for the pitch and free pass.

Just avoid Alan C.

He's a bit special apparently, tends to dribble a lot.. and not always from the mouth :freak:

Gordon, the 'fluffiness' is great! Glad you don't feel the 'newbie' who they all take the p**s out of, cos that's still me, even after over a year

Great to see everyone yesterday - thanks to Ducatisti for the pitch!

Looking forward to next year (do you think they could tarmac the 'drive'?).

Liz

After 6 years I get the p1ss big time still and always will no doubt. Just stay away from J.P when he has a notebook around.

I seem to have lost my reflector hanger on way down so a new one needed.

Someone loses something everytime we get together. Ducati build quality, I reckon, mixed in with the type of riders the brand attracts :look:

Anyway, thanks for organising, gang. Mine made it through the MOT retest yesterday, so I'm back in the road just in time to have something go wrong for the next get together. Catch up soon.

I was admiring your early M900 Gordon - very original and fantastic condition

Would've loved to, but my new school are having an induction morning. I guess I could pop over to wherever you guys are meeting up afterwards, but I'm expecting to be busy in Winchester until 11:30am ish

True enough. Although HDs are closer in spirit to the Ducatis than the blackbird, I suppose. Maybe not; they're closer to tractors than any other brand of motorcycle.

I now have a replacement reflector hanger courtesy of Buzzbomb. As new and will be fitted with nylocs or some kind of anti undoing bolts.

I wonder whats next to fall off then :scratch:

I did hear mention of an airborne seat cowel....... but that would be daft.....

Yes, that was actually quite an achievement, but not structural. Losing a brake disc, now that'd be impressive.
