Aerosol paint cans, hints and tips please

Any tips on getting the best finish out of aerosol cans?
Not on damp days (like today) etc.
What to do with decals?
Preparation and finishing for that "I can see my face shine" (other faces are available)

I stand the cans in warm water before and between coats.

i depressurise the spray can and open with a can opener, tip contents into a gravety fed spray gun (compressor fed) and apply... saves the hassle of mixing paint but gets the results being able to play with spray pattern and weight between coats.
