The oil / filter got changed around 600 miles ago (at dealers during main service) and I've noticed milky gunge inside the filler cap and on the sight glass - to the extent that it's difficult to see the oil level.

If it was water cooled I'd be worrying about a head gasket going but can't work out where this stuff is coming from.

It's a real pain isn't it.
Don't worry, it's something lots of us suffer from at times, it is condensation caused by lots of short trips on your bike where it's not getting hot enough to burn off the condensation.
It's your bikes way of telling you to get out & do a few longer trips!!

Cheers - yep, I would have thought it more likely after short runs in winter but it's still there even after a 60 odd mile run this morning.

To help it clear just take the oil cap out after a ride, leave it somewhere so you don't forget to put it back on however!

Hi Gordon

as everyone has says common problem.

Best cure is after a ride take the oil filler cap off, whilst still warm and it should clear.

Cheers

Thanks all - I'll try that when I get back this afternoon.

60 miles isn't long enough to make any difference, especially if pottering about.

Needs a good 100+ mile thrash

Oh and if it's got a cooler fitted make sure oil flow is switched off

Thanks - looks like an early start tomorrow then.
So if anyone spots a 900 on A31 / A32 / A272 early tomorrow that'll probably be me........
