You may already be aware that there is a Ferrari and Ducati meet at Groombridge Place near Tun Wells on Sun 1st August.
http://www.groombridge.co.uk/special.htm

Last year was a terrific event and we are trying to get at least 100 bikes there this year.

I need to provide numbers to the organisers, as they are providing free entry and free lunch if you arrive on a bike; preferably a Ducati, but other bikes will also be welcomed.

Could you please start adding your names to the list below.
Please let others know who may not be on this forum.

We have been asked to arrive at Groombridge at 1pm.
So, this would mean leaving the Oakdene soon after 12ocl...

There is no finish time as such...lots of people left mid to late afternoon, some stayed in to the evening to see the mass balloon launch..

Hi all, just out of interest, is there a meeting point to meet up prior to riding to Groombridge? If there is, where and at what time?

jimbo696
23-07-2010, 08:35 AM
There are 2 meeting points that I know of; one is at the Oakdene Cafe http://www.oakdenecafe.co.uk/ We will be leaving there at 12ocl.
The other is at Box Hill, at Rykas Cafe, also departing at 12ocl (I think?)

I'll be leaving shortly, just need to attend to a few things, such as put the laundry out, decide which bike to take (depends on whether the green light on the ctek is a true indication of my battery having been saved from death), and then wash that. The Ducati was last washed about two months ago, but the poor Vespa probably not this year, so if I have to take her out, I may be some time...

Thanks for organising the event, Jim!

See you all in a month's time at the Italian Car & Bike Day at the Honnington Country Fair at Southborough, Kent (near Groombridge).

Had a great day and enjoyed seeing all the Ducatis (shame my monster was not one of them) it seemed a shame so many people left early I returned from a walk(and ice cream) to find the Multi stood all alone with only a hand full of bikes still in the field.
Still the winner of best bike was one of them and got his prize. it was the one with the red bull paint job(well done that man) a great selection of bike and a very nice day out thanks to all who helped organise the day.

Diego, it was slightly easier to keep up with you guys this time, so I'm guessing there is some improvement in my riding.
On the other hand, when you said I hadn't slowing you down… hmmm… I think you just tried to be kind mate ;) Very nice bit of roads. I was really enjoying and already looking foreword to Essex ride out.

My pleasure! It was the least I could do after be allowed to gate-crash another Ducati gathering. Although in my defence, (i) I originally thought it was an Italian bike thing, not just Duc's and (ii) I only live up the road so you were on my land anyway!

By the way, when we split over the M23 I went back down the same road in reverse, and those T-boned cars were still there at the end, still waiting for :piglet: to arrive.

How long would that have been ? 45 minutes? An hour ?

I think :piglet: was too busy chasing small number plates and tinted visors to be concerned with sorting out car crashes!
