I am thinking about replacing the standard air filter for a K&N and wondered if I should be concerned about the bike running too lean. I have a CAT eliminator pipe and Sil Motos, is it ok just to change the filter or do I need to go down the dyno route to be safe. QBA and ferdy told me at the ACE that I shouldnt worry and just do it but I want to be cautious.

What's the consensus and what difference will this make to the bike?

Later ECU's on the S2R can be more sensitive to changes than earlier EFI bikes. Safe option would be to get it dyno'd to be sure and avoid engine damage. Re-mapping isn't an option unless you splash out on a Ducati Performance ECU, Powercommander or similar.

It's important to establish what spec your bike left factory in, and exactly what mods have been done since. Ducati changed the EFI set-up a lot during production of the S2R, and it will determine the method needed to tune yours.
