Hi,

I've started my first diy belt change and I'm trying to decide whether to change the pulley bearings. They are smooth, but there is a very slight movement when you rock the pulley, is this normal?

How long do they normally last?

Cheers

*edit* just done a bit of research on this. Apparently they do fail quite easily and are cheap to replace - I'll get some new ones!

I'd say that too, I changed the adjustable bearing pair at 14K on the horizontal belt as they had some play. The others are fine tho, as you note the adjustables are cheap off the shelf sizes needs a splitter/puller though.

pulley bearings are cheap check them every time you check belt tension if they feel a bit gritty change for peace of mind , i just rebuilt a 996 for a friend where a pulley bearing seized and tore off the belt and wrecked 4 valves lucky no worse.

Cheers guys,

MotoRapido sent the wrong ones (open cam bearings) but I was able to confirm that they had a similar amount of play, mine are nice and smooth so I've left them for now.
