View Full Version : My Annual Insurance Quote trawl has started !

So, I've got about 3 weeks to go until my insurance policy needs renewing, and this year I'll also have my new Multistrada 1200 (replacing the Tiumph Sprint ST) to add to my S4R.

I haven't had my renewal quote yet, but in general, I've only found One, repeat, One, insurance broker I could get insurance with for the last 3 years. BIKE TEAM INSURANCE. Very helpful and went the extra mile to get me a quote from the underwriter.

So this year I've started the endless repitition of bike & personal details to try and get a quote. Now, granted, getting a quote on the new Multistrada 1200 was never going to be easy as it's a brand new model, but I'm still shocked and the general level of competancy I've found in the 17 Brokers I've called so far.

It's shocking the number of companies who say,
'It's not listed, we can't quote'.
'We only have a base model & the 'S' Model listed' - When clearly there is a Touring Model too, which I'm buying.
I still find brokers who's systems don't even have a three year old S4R 998cc Testastretta listed. They have 992 cc's, 996 cc's, Tricolore's, S4RS's, but not my one.

The usual applies, I live in London, don't have a brick garage, have expensive & high powered bikes, so any way they can get out of quoting, they will.

I've had varying degrees of success,
£1,392 - Ducati Insurance & Wicked Quotes (same company)
£1,136 - Carole Nash - (the first time they've every quoted me).
£ 961 - H&R Insurance
£ 926 - MCE
£ 800 - The Bike Insurer (but via MCE interestingly)

"Sorry we can't/won't quote you";
I.A.M Surety (I'm not 50 and don't ride a GS)
Bennetts
Aquote
Swinton
Devitt
Bikesure
eBike Insurance
The Policy Shop
Motorcycle Direct
Compare the Market.Com
BikeTeam
DW Lawton

And my search goes on..........:grump:

And the above quotes are with 3 years no claims bonus.

Oh, and don't start telling me how cheap your insurance is. I know it's probably cheaper than mine !

Just about to start looking for quotes too. Hope they are better than yours cos I'm about 100 years old and live in the boonies with alarmed garage. one sp30 and 5 years no claims.

Need a policy to cover the Streetfighter and Multi might add the RK as well if it's good and cheap

Mmmmm Saga??

Probably get a better quote from Compare the Meerket.
They don't have the proper model of Monster listed, and don't have the Multistrada listed.

I’m surprised by the wicked quotes. There were about half the price of everyone else for mine (after I got quotes initially on the 800 without realising, but bought the 1000! Doh!) :banghead: but said they had some sort of naked/muscle bike offer on at the time

Try tescocompare.com. They sometimes have one of two insurers that other comparison sites might not

Just had mine through from Footman James..classic policy based around the 888..also added my 748 based track bike (daytime MOT'd), monster and RGV all with agreed value..£231.75 ! Doesnt even seem worth looking for that !

Probably get a better quote from Compare the Meerket.
They don't have the proper model of Monster listed, and don't have the Multistrada listed.

you just enter the closest model and then telephone the cheapest quoting company and they'll adjust it, much easier than blanket calling

Not really. At least I get to explain the specifics of the bike and have a moan at their systems for being ****e.

It gets better ! After a bit of bartering..I upped the guaranteed values slightly, and theyve reduced the excess from £250 to £50 and lowered the premim to £219.40. Very happy with that !

Watch Footman James make sure they take payment . They messed up my insurance 3 times this year and messed up my renewal and left in uninsured total shambles... I am far from impressed , made up a quote then went back on it told me they had not logged it ..My insurance quote went up £50 in ten minutes! Tried to fib about some other stuff... I told them I am not stupid and they said ohhhh... and then did what I asked.

They failed to take payments 3 different times , no money issues my end , they just did not set up the direct debit correctly.. and rude as well.

The only plus with them is if you belong to an owners club they give you 10% discount.
The suzi club I am in somehow managed to get this.. So I get 10 %.

But I am so angry with them!!
